Introduction
Background
The study would be focused towards evaluating the various aspects that determine the
effectiveness of Knowledge management systems across various organizations. The organization
selected for the study is the Ministry of Interior, Government of Oman.
Research Aim
The aim is to provide a critical appraisal of the chosen organization and the situational
factors that can determine the effectiveness of the knowledge management processes that are
implemented in the organization. More emphasis would be provided to the KM aspects of
knowledge acquisition and application.
Research Objectives
 To understand the knowledge application and acquisition framework at Microsoft
 To evaluate the knowledge application and acquisition framework at Microsoft
 To analyze the effectiveness of KM for corporate organizations
 To provide effective recommendations considering the generated findings
Literature Review
The consulted literatures would be based on the KM aspects that are essentially
considered at Microsoft. Additionally the literatures that have considered essentially the various
aspects of knowledge management would be focused. Knowledge management is the effective
storing, acquisition, utilization and evaluation of information in any corporate environments. It is
how organizations tend to manage and utilize its knowledge resources and align them with their
