LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE 2
General Introduction
One of the most fundamentals aspects of cities and urban centers are buildings. They help
in defining the space, and historically, a significant portion of the built environment has been
designed and developed by the effort of architectures. With the development of cultures through
the integration of inter-generational tradition and oral histories, formalization of architecture took
place (file:///C:/Users/Franc/Downloads/1712646724_Textbook%20(2).pdf). In this
context, an analysis of the term urban is defined in the context of urban design. In definition,
urban design refers to the appearance, arrangement as well as functionality of cities and towns in
various shaping and utilization of the public space.
In this context, the definition shall be analyzed through a consideration of Chinese and
Japanese gardens, as well as which shall are located in the urban areas of Singapore. Primarily,
the assessment shall concentrate on:
The critical natural and social processes which have been considered in the planning and
design of the landscapes
The consideration of community inclusion in the design process?
The social or physical narrative articulated by the designer of Japanese and Chinese gardens as
well as the legibility of the design.
the experience of the site and its story
Chinese and Japanese gardens
One of the most interesting sites to visit in Singapore is the Chinese and Japanese gardens. The
two gardens/ parks, located in Jurong east covers an area of 135, 000 square meters. The parks
are constructed on islands, and connected by a bridge known as the bridge of double beauty. The
