Increasing global acceptance of healthcare technologies and
processes has created an environment where reaching to each and
every people in society has become possible (Degni et al., 2012).
However, despite of such proliferation healthcare facilities are
unable to meet the standards of healthcare as quality care is
hindered due to widespread language barrier and
miscommunications (Gagnon et al., 2012). This research mainly
focused the language barrier in healthcare facilities of Australia
and then provided a detailed flow of processes using which the
strategies using which these barriers could be overcome (Hassali,
Shafie & Khan, 2012). This flyer provides the information to the
healthcare facilities so that the reinforcement of the interpersonal
communication could be developed.
Introduction
Objectives
Patients can not obtain quality healthcare due to this language
barrier
Healthcare professionals are unable to understand the
requirements of the patients while providing them healthcare
interventions and hence, the chances of quality care decreases
(Hassali, Shafie & Khan, 2012).
The bond between healthcare professional and patients are
unable to form due to which the healthcare process gets affected.
Due to the lack of proper intervention, the healthcare
professional cannot understand the source of patients problem
and hence, consent to the healthcare treatment is impossible to
achieve (Kessel, Kratzer & Schultz, 2012).
Problems due to lack of communication
Healthcare facilities should make their professionals and
nursing staff aware of the inclusion of people who are unable to
speak in English or the other official language and provide
them equal and proper care (Kessel, Kratzer & Schultz, 2012).
Further, they should be provided with training and educational
sessions so that while understanding the process and
implementing them in their working culture they could
understand the importance of it in their professional life.
Healthcare facilities should implement interpreters in the
facility so that while communicating with such patients they
can understand the need of the patient and then provide them
with proper treatment for their betterment (Hassali, Shafie &
Khan, 2012).
Training must be given in proper inter-personal communication
skills among the nursing professionals
The nurses must be trained in working cross-cultural
atmosphere (Hassali, Shafie & Khan, 2012)
Ways to overcome affected interpersonal
communication Conclusions
This flyer is an important part of the research as it provides a clear idea of
the process and the issue interpersonal communication which affects the
healthcare facility and the patients health receiving care within the facility.
On the other hand, the flyer provides different reasons due to which
interpersonal communication should be promoted within healthcare
facilities so that while receiving care within the facility, patients are
provided with proper healthcare treatment. Finally, it also mentions several
strategies which could be used in eliminating the issue from the healthcare
process and facility.
