Introduction
Kate Shepard was born in 10th march 1847 in England, Liverpool, she moved to New
Zealand in the late 1860s. In the year 1885.She founded a union named Women’s Christian
temperance and after years later, she became a leader of suffrage campaign. Several suffrages
bills failed before the parliament of New Zealand before it lastly allowed women with the
right to vote in the year 1893. Shepard was later vigorous in suffrage movement of women in
other countries (Keating, 2016). She died in New Zealand in the year 1934. Kate was the
daughter of Scottish parents and she moved to Scotland with her family. Her political life
actively started in trinity congregational church. Shepard also engrossed herself in the
temperance movement. In the year 1885 she cofounded the New Zealand Women's Christian
Abstinence Union (Wilson, 2013). Kate then decided to safe the right to vote. After 2 years
Sheppard became the leader of its suffrage campaign. Shepard became a leader as her vision
for the commitment to a changed society, while there were, many others who were involved
in the women suffrage movement in New Zeeland. She was a person who was prepared to
become the public face for the right of women. This report discusses the leadership of Kate
Shepard, her characteristics, leadership theory, weakness and strength and the lessons learned
from her leadership (Grimshaw, 2013).

She is an honourable leader because she was one of those leaders who fought for the accurate
of New Zealand women to vote. She started a campaign with other women in the year 1983
and then New Zealand become one of the most self-governing nations in the world which

the first newspaper which was achieved and owned by a women. Kate Sheppard's was very

Don’t take no for an answer: she taught other like her team members to not take no as

critical voices, put up a fight for the things you believe in. one should always take risk and

they should see all those problems as challenges which are worth taking risks for.
