Introduction
Main objective of this report is to better understand the concept of leadership &
management in the service industry. Both play an essential role in effectively manging the
business operations and successfully achieving the goal of organisation. Leadership is consider
as an art of motivation a group of people towards the achievement of common goal (Al-Awlaqi
and et. al. 2021). It assist an organisation in enhancing the efficiency and productivity of their
employees and make them to successfully achieve the goal of company. While on the other hand
management of an organisation will assist them to effectively manage various function of
organisation and achieve the objective. For this report Savoy hotel is taking into consideration. It
is one of the Luxury hotel located in the city of Westminster in Landon, England founded in
1889 by Richard D’Oyly Carte. It was also have four restaurants, three bars with valet parking
and also provide many other facility. This report will include various classical management
theory and role of leader and various leadership style. Other than this it include the internal and
external factor which influence management style, soft & hard skills and various future skills of
management and leadership. It include comparison of various organisation change management
system & leadership in implementing change.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
P1 Discuss various classical management theory in context of selected company.
It refers to a management theory which is considered as an management style and based
on the belief that workers of an organisation are have physical and economical needs (Ali, Wu
and Ali, 2021). It will not consider any kind of social need & job satisfaction. It will include the
sole governance in organisation, effective leadership and specialised task which assist an
organisation in maximizing their productivity at workplace. In context of Savoy hotel, various
classical management theories are discussed below:
Scientific management theory- This theory is developed by Frederick Taylor’s. Main
aim of this theory is to improve the economic efficiency and productivity of labour in an
organisation. Taylor state that for effectively achieve the mission of a particular task it is
important to scientifically analysis the job. According to him, efficiency and effectiveness in
work will only be increased when the job will be organised in most effective & productive

manner. In context of selected company, they will provide various monetary benefits such as
bonus, various incentives which assist them in motivating their employees.
Administrative management theory- This theory is developed by Henri Fayol’s known
as the father of management laid down the 14 principles of management. These principle of
management are effectively used by manager of organisation for effectively managing an
organisation and also beneficial for the planning, decision making, organization & better control
and coordination. In relevance of Savoy hotel, they will hire highly skilled and experience
employees for their hotel. They will not hire the candidates on the basis of their popularity and
favouritism (Fan, and et. al. 2020).
Bureaucratic theory of management- This theory is developed by Max Weber’s who
was a German sociologist & political theorist. Weber made distinction between authority and
power. He believes that power will educes obedience through force or consider as a threat of
force. According to him there are three types of power will exist in organisation which are
traditional power, charismatic power and legal power. This theory will assist an organisation in
formulating a clear chain of command. In context of Savoy hotel, by applying this theory their
mangers will be able to respond correctly & authority provides them this power.
P2 Discuss the role of leader & different leadership style in context of selected company
Leader will play an essential role in influencing the behaviour of employee in an
organisation and guide them towards the achievement of organisation goal. In context of selected
company, main role of their leader is to have a consistent & convincing guidance to their
employees. Other than this their leader are responsible for developing an effective organisation
structure and clearly define the job responsibility to their employees so that they will work with
their full efficiency. Their leader will use various strategy for enhancing the engagement of their
employees in decision making process and responsible for effectively communicate the goal of
organisation so that their employees will do work with their full efficiency. In context of Savoy
hotel their leaders are responsible for ensure that their all employees will have sufficient
resources in order to perform their job. Leader of selected hotel will use various leadership style
for effectively run the business operations of hotel. These theories are mention below:
Democratic leadership style- This leadership style is also known as participative
leadership because in it leader of an organisation will include other team members and
employees in decision making process. In context of selected hotel, as because of this leadership
