INTRODUCTION
Leadership is an ability of individual to manage various individual and people within
organisation so that best outcome can be gained. Leaders use various styles of leadership to
influence individual to work for better growth and success of enterprise. This report is about an
case study of “The Dag- Bruken ASRS case” which stated that various challenges are faced by
project manager in effective leadership and management. Therefore it discuss about various key
issues in managing people and the way leadership can be used to improve performance of team
member. It also evaluates various factors that impact on quality of project or engineering activity
and impact of leadership styles in quality issues in The Dag Bruken ASRS project.
Key Issues That were Faced by Operational Manager in Managing People
Various issues were faced by operational manager of The Dag Bruken ASRS project such
as ineffective management of people, communication and poor working environment which had
lead to poor performance and failure of project. Manager of company does not have various
skills and knowledge that lead different challenges for itself to manage different people within
organisation. Absence of various skills such as effective communication thus team member were
unable to understand views, ideas of other individual which leads to failure of project.
Fragmentation of team member also leads to ineffective cooperation and coordination between
various individual towards particular goals of company (Swanigan, 2017). Communication
between employees ceased when manager of when groups are required to take separate breaks
thus in effective management of people has lead to failure of project. Another issue that was
faced by operation manager is that employees were dissatisfied with DB policy change and
appointment of part time academic as they were paid higher hourly rates. At the same time full
staff does not have excess to claim for extra payment for over time than normal hours such
leadership styles of operation manager has create barrier in effective management of people and
completion of particular project (George and et.al., 2016). Another issue development team has
never work together as unified and synergistic unit so they work heterogeneously. Poor
management and leadership skill of operational manager of The Dag Bruken ASRS project such
as MD has skills to develop new and creating ideas concept but does not have abilities to
influence other to work in similar manner so that desired goals can be achieved. Another issue
of ineffective managements is that MD was not able to separate roles and responsibilities of each
