This report discusses the implementation of change within Wood Care Limited, a care home licensed to provide personal care and support to clients. INTRODUCTION
Leadership and change management is referring need and requirement which help people to
buy vision for the organisation. In addition, there are various type of communication is required
in order to fulfil the need of organisation and reduce error which may technical, managerial and
so on. Sometime, change is required within organisation to make it more productive and reduce
the error which negative and impact the overall operation of the firm. In this report, the major
discussion carries various aspect that is about Wood Care Limited. The Wood Care Limited is
referring care home licensed to provide personal care and support to client. The poor quality and
support is analysed through Wood Care Limited for their client which must be improved. The
vision of the firm to make change that is associated with improvement of quality for client that is
about support and care. The report is divided into two task where first task covers the change
management with help of Kotter model with proper practical step. On second task, the
applicability of Lewin theory in this case where the use of formulation of strategy to manage the
challenges which is predominantly arise (Akhmetshin and et. al., 2018).

Use Kotter’s model to explore and appraise proper practical step that use effectively to manage
the implementation of change within care homes
The Kotter’s model of change management is generally use to optimise change that is
implemented within organisation. John Kotter, a Harvard business school professor and wrote
the book named leading change which introduced the 8 step model of change which is well
developed on the basis of research of organisation that is approximate 100 and more which is
going the long process of change. In this, underpinned strategy that is quality improvement
within the care homes is undertaking and make rationale (Al-Hamid, 2021).

The eight step which is showing the process of change that include:
Creating a sense of urgency: In reference with Wood Care Limited, it is analysed that the poor
quality is assessed within the firm that faced by client which is six in number. The client faces
the issue due to poor quality of service that is provided by Wood Care Limited. The quality is
important index for care home because it creates conceptual and mandatory aspect for the people
in order to get support and improve their condition that they facing for long. With reference with
initial stage of Kotter’s model, creating sense of urgency in respect to quality or good quality is
required to reduce issue which is faced by number of people within care homes. The sense of
urgency act as primary factor where previous poor quality and other associated bias are breaking
down and implement new plan that is about good quality. All the above, first stage of Kotter’s
model is useful because the strategic action is useful in order to maintain quality of care and
support (Bousquet and et. al., 2019).
Build guiding team: In reference with Kotter’s model of change management, the strategy which
is making good quality care and support for the individual living within care homes. As per this,

good quality is implemented through using support form team. In this, team are usually created
in order to develop sense of belonging within care homes and try to know their need and
requirement and act accordingly. Focus on care and support which must improve through client
preference where team is important to make communication and establishing quality of care.
Developing vision and strategy: The formulation of the vision and strategy is an important factor
which is taken the process of quality improvement because it is important to take care of client
need and their preference. Before that, it is essential to established the vision which is taking
patient or individual on priority and fulfil their need and demand as per organisation policy that
support and related with health. Therefore, vision is articulate and provide sense of quality in
term of individual who facing laps of poor quality (Dogru and et. al., 2019).
Communicating the vision: This part of Kotter’s model usually is about communicating the
change in vision which is very often powerful and convincingly. For example, for the quality
improvement within care homes in important where vision is must be communicated with team
and other healthcare professional that they focus on the support and care of individual with care
homes. This communication helps to develop objective and goals for the support and care of
individual.
Removing obstacle: The fifth pillar of Kotter’s model is individually focus on the organisational
process and structure which is showing the place which show the alignment with the overall
organisational vision. As per this, it is also analysing that persistently focus in the barrier or
people who resisting the change. Moreover, implement proactive action which is usually help to
remove the disturbance that is generally involve in the process of change. With reference to
Wood Care Limited, the previous procedure of care is changed and make new process which is
hassle free and productive with vision to individual support and care. Additionally, staffs are also
trained in new way that they can support the individual with proper respect (Fang and et. al.,
2022).
Creating short term wins: This is sixth part of Kotter’s model that focus on short goals which is
provided to staff towards their client that they must fulfil the need or any task which is assigned.
This short term wins in quality improvement help to focus on poor quality that must be improved
day by day due to short task which is assigned to staff. Therefore, the short term goals for quality
improvement is like performing role and responsibilities in proper way by staff is appreciated
and they must be rewarded for that.

Consolidating gains: As per this, achievement towards the persistent improvement in term of
quality and focus on individual care and support can lead to create story which is about success.
It also shows improvement within individual experience and if it is persistent then the quality of
the care homes is improved in proper ways that is act as an achievement for the Wood Care
Limited (Gillespie and et. al., 2019).
Make the change stick: It is important to focus on the strategy and stick towards change that is
usually made under firm to make improvement for quality. The Wood Care Limited as a care
home usually face the issue which may create complication for the quality aspect. The above
mentioned strategy that is focus in staff training and behaviour must articulate in order to create
the aspect that is productive for taking aspect of care and support.
Overall, the Kotter’s model of change management is used under the firm improvement that
face the issue of poor quality due to the various of reason which may poor behaviour of staff
towards the patient for their support and care. In addition, Wood Care Limited usually focus on
current context that allow the staff to fulfil their assign role and responsibility and provide
appropriate care and support to the client or patient. Therefore, the use of Kotter’s model allows
the implementation of change that is about focus on quality improvement. Moreover, model is
suitable to focus on the various criteria that include eight stage that have primary focus is to
client vision and need and according to that they made change in term of their treatment and
support which is required by patient or individual within care homes. Within the care homes, the
major plot arise that they use to implement new change because of poor quality. The use of
Kotter’s model is good decision making because the model play significant role in developing
the aspect which counter essential change that improve quality such as focus on vision and
objective, building team and other factor which is responsible to create horizon which is best
suitable for the development of quality of care and health among the care homes. The staff within
the care home are usually taken role in proper ways (Hasenzagl, and Güttel, 2021).
While abbreviate the all detail, it is analysed that Wood Care Limited has facing issue which
is all related with poor quality of service that is may affect the overall productivity to provide
care and support. In addition to this, it is well determined that strategic action which is taken
place within the care home to make suitable aspect that allow staff to focus on the individual and
act accordingly which help to generate wellbeing and resilience. Therefore, Wood Care Limited
sort their opinion which is about decision that they want to make care home comprehensive and

concentrate of good quality of service which must be provided to every individual (Islam and et.
al., 2021).
TASK 2
Applicability of Lewin’s theory, uses of theory development of strategy to manage the arising
challenges.
The Lewin’s theory is well applicable in the current change or change that is implemented
within organisation. It is first introduced in by Kurt Lewin Force Field Theory that state that
force usually influence the behaviour of both group and individual, therefore, they focus to
decide the fate of change. In addition, the driving force is usually helpful in order to create
motivation and steer employee towards the new state of mind. As per this, restraining force
highlight the potential resistance to make the change which is well acted as the prime barrier to
make the change new initiation in the firm. In reference with Wood Care Limited, it is well
analysing that the change is occur which is about quality improvement which may include staff
training, building team for work that must focus on coordination and communication and provide
care and support to the number of individual who is present inside the care home. With this,
Lewin theory suggest that it is crucial to balance the force by using the effective change
communication and employee that is showing the involvement by providing the employee
training bridge to bridge the skill gap. The change agents are must implemented that help to
reduce the stress which is showing technique that ensure compliance which is used to meet and
use the skills which is well associated with reasoning (Jayatilleke, and Lai, 2018).
In addition to this, the three stage of change in Lewin model or theory stated that they are
substantiate theory which suggested a straightforward that is showing three step change model
which aids employee ability to make the change which is adapted within care home for quality
improvement.

The Lewin change model has three stage that is unfreeze, change, and refreeze which is in
reversible and proportional process. The Lewin theory with their stage is explained with the
reference to Wood Care Limited that is care home assumption of arises challenge while
implementing strategy that is quality improvement.
Stage one: Unfreeze: This is referring as the first stage in Lewin model deal which is showing
the perception and aim to make preparation that is affect the stakeholder for upcoming
organisational change. The change leader usually takes a look in order to make improvement
within the company. In reference to Wood Care Limited, the major challenge which is arise
during implementation of action plan is lack of communication and team approach among the
staff to fulfil the vision of firm. Therefore, this stage of Lewin change shows effective change
communication that play vital role in getting the desired team member which is for support of the

people in the change management. Therefore, the challenge is arising which is about poor
communication and all. Therefore, this stage of Lewin change model focus on aspect that
provide overview of taking preparation for strategies which is implemented within care that help
to improve quality of care home. In addition, they usually focus on the vision that help to
eradicate the issue or challenge which is analysed during implementation of strategy. As per this,
it is also analysed that they can solve the issue of poor quality which is predominantly improved
through the aspect of care and support and taking individual as a part of priority where staff must
fulfil the need and wants of individual that provide them proper wellbeing and resilience.
Overall, it is also analysed that they can made the changes appropriately that focus on
implementation of proper support and care (Jing, and et. al., 2019).
Stage two: Change: This stage is indicating about the implementation of desired change which is
necessary in order to create the best quality of service within the care when taking the reference
of Wood Care Limited. As per this, it is also analysed that stage two have main focus in the
implementation of change that is outline at the initial level of firm. Therefore, the additional
approach which may shows the straight factor which is taken under consideration for the
improvement of quality within care homes where staff build team and support the individual with
them recognise need and wants. As per this, it is also taken in such way that allow the firm to
create new policy or new vision which is taken by Wood Care Home with goals to implement
change that necessary for development of support among six individual with care home (Zhao,
Zou, Li, and Ding, 2019).
This stage elaborates some key pointer which is necessary to know because while implementing
the desired change, some callous situation is arise that must be improved by using proper step
that is taking decision in such a way where healthcare professional and other is staff is showing
the aspect of involvement. There are some of aspect that is taken which may support the
challenging part of plan or strategy that is desired to implement in Wood Care Limited (Land,
2018).
Stage three: Refreeze: This is final part of Lewin change model that indicate aspect which is
related with solidification of desired goals that strictly mean that firm or their related component
is stuck towards vision and goals which they meant to create for the improvement of firm. In
reference with Wood Care Limited as a care home, they are facing the issue of quality in term of
individual support and care where staff are not taking role and responsibilities in such a way

which create positive impact on individual and they take longer time as expected to recover from
the certain health issue and more. The stage three state that employee move away from transition
phase towards the stabilisation or acceptance in the final refreezing stage. Therefore, if change
leader usually fails to make the strengthen the change by showing the reinforcing in into the
organisation culture where employee might revert to the context of previous behaviour
(Micheletti and et. al., 2021).
 They determine and rewards early adopter and make the change champions.
 Collect employee feedback which is based on regular ways.
 Offer on demand employee which is associated with training and support.
These all are mentioned and analysed aspect which is well suitable and create the provision
of care within firm. The quality is improved through the various source that include training and
development, assigning task on regular basis, appreciating employee with reward and so on
which help them to create general aspect which is widely allow the staff to focus on their role
and responsibilities (Wali, and Saber, 2019). In this, there are three major ways that Lewin three
stage of change model is applied in the organisational to deal with the challenge which is include
miscommunication, improper behaviour of staff within the workplace due to change in task and
structure of organisation. As per this, the changing behaviour that is recognise that they can face
the issue which may show the impact of creating proper goals and development. These all are
challenging aspect when the new plan or previous policy is changed. Therefore, number of
positive and negative feedback is arising which may create various aspect where feedback is
taken but firm have major on improvement of quality. Moreover, Lewin change of model support
the change which may include with organisation in wider way (Naim, Gosling, and Hewlett,
2022).
CONCLUSION
As per the above discussion, it is also analysed that study allow to get better understanding which
is about taking the aspect of care and support within the chosen firm. As per this, the firm has
face the issue which is occur due to poor quality of service that is provided by staff to the
individual within care home. In addition, firm decided to improve the quality of the service and
well they focus on implementing the change that is useful to make the impact on productivity.
With this, the two model or theory are used to adopt in order to visualise and observe the change
which is happen within the organisation. The Kotter’s model of change management focus on

eight stage which elaborate the change that is development of quality in firm with wider ways. In
addition, the Lewin change model is also used which allow to get the better understanding that
state stick towards the implemented change is necessary to develop transition which is
productive for the firm to regulate quality of service that is major impact faced by the firm itself
as care home.
