Introduction
The contingency is a theory of leadership that was produced by Fred Fiedler
in the year 1958 at that time of his research in leadership style. Fred
Fiedler identified that it is one of the effective leadership theory that can be
used for controlling the situation and style of leadership (Cunha, et al.,
2019). The purpose of this paper is to discover the concept behind
contingency theory and evaluate their importance in leadership styles. It is
observed that the eventuality method is a part of organization model which
proposes the most effective leadership styles that depend on the context of
the condition. The major focus of this research is to evaluate the key
features of contingency used in the leadership.
The contingency approach to leadership
The contingency approach of management reported that the efficiency of
the leaders is contingent upon how her or his leadership approach link with
the condition. The team members should identify the reliable and effective
leadership style that can help them for controlling and managing their
situations (Waters, 2013). The concept behind the contingency approach is
concerned with the following statements:
There is no one better leadership style that can manage the condition
of consumers
A team leader is reliable when the selected leadership style fits with
their condition and it is very difficult for consumers to select the
effective management style
In the case of contingency approach of management, the success of the
leader is defined as a function of numerous contingencies in the procedure
of tasks, and sub-sections. The reliability and effectiveness of the selected
leadership style depend on the behaviour of leaders along with their
