INTRODUCTION
About the topic
Leadership is defined as the process which is used within the organisation so that to
manage employees and to use their skills in such a manner that business objectives can be
attained. Leadership is one of the major element which helps the employee to acquire such
direction in which overall business objectives can be attained (Reb, Chaturvedi, Narayanan and
Kudesia, 2019). Leadership is helpful in providing direction to the employees and to manage
their working in the manner in which business objectives can be accomplished. In the context of
retail industry this is analysed that employees are treated as the prominent asset for the
organisation in which with the help of appropriate leadership this is imperative that to acquire
business prominence. Leaders are associated with using all the available resources in such
manner that optimal benefits can be attained and at the same time value can also be given to
employees (Ribeiro, Gomes and Kurian, 2018). The current report is associated with examining
effectiveness of leadership on the performance of the organisation and individual employees.
About the organisation
Argos is one of the prominent British retailer which is operating their business in Ireland
and UK. The company was acquired by Sainsbury's which is regarded as one of the major
retailer of UK. The company was established in the year of 1972 and managing their business in
selling of food retail products and variety of household item so that to increase ease for their
customers. Argos is the leading UK merchandise retailer offering more than 60000 products
using their website and apps. The company is having USP that the customer will shop online but
collect their product by store in physical manner.
Problem statement
The major problem within retail industry is that due to existence of huge competitors,
huge efforts are required to be made by the organisation in order to manage the competition and
to acquire sustainability into the market (Sihombing and et. al., 2018). In order to manage the
