Introduction
Leadership in business is considered to be one of the important aspect for both the
organisation and the employees. There are some significant factors that heightens the role of
leadership in business highly pivotal. It is the responsibility of a leader to manage and guide the
employees towards achieving the target and objectives of the company. This is firmly coupled
with the interests of the organisation to use its workforce strategically in order to get better result
in the competitive market. Apart from that from the perspectives of the individual interests of the
employees. In this regard, the leader assists them to put a great deal of emphasis on fulfilling
their individual aspirations through motivation and encouragement. Therefore, it can be stated
that leadership in workplace is highly important and a noble task which requires the
understanding and evaluation of individual skills and ability. Henceforth, this reflective report is
going to analyse my skills and abilities for developing a good and effective leadership quality
that meets both the objectives of the company and the individual aspiration of the employees.
Your Personality and Leadership
Personality and Leadership – Big Five Personality
The personality and approaches of leaders play an important role in improving the
effectiveness of the operations. In this relation, the recollection and assessment of my personality
types through the test enabled me in improving my understanding of the approaches and the
manner in which I reflected on the different situations. In this relation, the Big Five Personality
test that I conducted on my own skills enabled me in developing a cognition on the strengths and
weaknesses with the objective of improving my capabilities. The assessment of the different
elements and the comparison of results of the personality tests permitted me in developing a
coherent understanding of the different strengths and weaknesses in my leadership behavior. On
the other hand, the results from the tests also indicated the manner in which I currently work and
how my future actions might be designed.
Extraversion
During the test I found that I was less of an introvert and more extraverted as I gained
51% in being extraverted and 49% in introverted. I believe that the score suggests that I am
comfortable in holding conversation with people (Refer to Appendix 1). On the other hand, the
extraversion helped me in gaining attention of most of my colleagues and peers as they believe
that I am energetic enough to keep them lively. The extraversion of my character also enabled
me in devising a positive environment around me while interacting with people. Effective
communication with the people around me not only assisted me in developing an idea on the
different situations and the manner in which the same might be manipulated but also helped me
in improving collaboration among the people. The improved collaboration among the people
enabled me in improving my operations as per the targets. The rate of extraverted attitude
thereby acted as a dominant factor on my introverted behavior or attitude towards the people in a
social situation. On the other hand, the increased communication with the different people
enabled me in increasing the rate of collaboration based on inter-trust factors. The inter-trust
factors and the value for collaboration enabled me in improving the culture. Therefore, I believe

that extraversion enabled me in developing good relation with the different people contributing
to the performance through friendly attitude.
Sensing
The test helped me in identifying the values that drive my decision making capabilities
based on the effectiveness of the operations. During the test I found that I am straightforward,
factual and concrete in my approach which is far away from interpretive skills. I scored 54% in
Sensing and 46% in intuition which clearly indicated that I am a person who relies on facts and
evidences rather than developing a cognition while interpreting the different elements in a
complex situation (Refer to Appendix 2). It affected my skills of undertaking efficient decision
making. The lack of critical thinking behavior and my reliability of factual data and information
also affected my ability of contributing to the strategic growth related operations. The key
changes in the organizational abilities rested on the capability of the people and the manner in
which the same might be influenced through the critical thinking and interpretation related skills
of the person. In different organizational situations I found myself in a helpless position when
the organizational decision was to be made on a market assumption. The assumption based role
was restricted though my incapability of developing critical thinking traits. On the other hand, I
personally believe that my dependence on the factual data apart from my intuitive skills enabled
me in avoiding risks through critical assessment of the different situations based on consolidated
reporting and consultation. In this relation, I believe that my approach of deriving value from the
factual information would enable me in improving my ability of improving the rational decision
making concept apart from contagious situations. Therefore, I believe that Sensing would enable
me in improving my decision making through reliance on facts and data. However, I also believe
that I should develop my critical thinking abilities with the objective of interpreting different
complicated situations and thereby empowering the activities as per the requirement.
Thinking
The test enabled me in identifying my thinking capability over feelings as I achieved 53%
in thinking and 47% in feeling (Refer to Appendix 3). The results critically acclaimed that I lack
an empathetic approach towards understanding the different situations and the problems that are
felt by the people. However, I do not agree completely with my results on this as I believe that I
am empathetic enough to identify the issues that are being faced by the people that are working
as subordinates. I undertake frequent interactions with the subordinates with the objective of
identifying the issues that are being faced by the same while operating in the different markets.
On the other hand, most of my peers and colleagues held the opinion that the lack of efficient
support and guidance from my side affected their capability of operating in their job positions.
Therefore, I believe that the report generated on my personality skills generated a partial
understanding of the empathetic nature which must be developed in me. On the other hand, the
assessment also provided me with a high percentage on critical thinking abilities which
contradicted with my results based on intuitiveness. The differences in the result might have
been my dynamic characteristics which critically reflected my behavior in different instances.
Therefore, in this relation, I believe that must develop a greater aspect of critical thinking with
the objective of supporting the complex systems as per the needs of the organizations. The
critical thinking capabilities would enable me in enhancing the different aspects of change in the
organizational operations through the enumeration of different innovative processes and
induction of intuitiveness in the process designs.

Perceiving
I gained 57% in perceiving and 43% in judging which denoted that I am flexible to the
changes and are more adaptable to different situations as opposed to being orderly and work in a
structured manner (Refer to Appendix 4). The spontaneity of my operations and my decision
making capabilities are highly influenced by this attribute of liberal thinking and flexible
functioning as per the situation. I believe that spontaneity in the activities granted me with a
privilege of going as per the course of the operations and thereby modifying he designs as per the
requirement of adverse situations. Moreover, I presume that spontaneity in the operations and
flexibility approaches enabled me in devising different options in an adverse situation. However,
I think that I should also take steps to perform orderly operations with the objective of improving
the outcome of the same. The different phases of operations that are planned by vast
organizations are based on orderly plans and structured processes. Again, the orderliness of the
operations can optimize the performance and support me in improvising my goals as per the
needs of the organization. Therefore, I must take steps to induce the value of orderly operations
and blend the same with my general tendency of liberal operations and spontaneity for
supporting the complex and adverse situations that are being faced by the organizations.
Turbulent
I received 53% for turbulent and 47% for assertive which indicated that I am highly self-
conscious and success driven (Refer to Appendix 5). I agree to the report as I believe myself to
be a perfectionist and my work does not only aim in meeting the targets but in excelling the goals
that were already delivered. However, in due course of achieving perfection in tend to put a lot
of stress on myself and the team members which might again affect the quality of work. The
different change based needs of the organization is based on the effectiveness of the leader and
the manner in which the same addresses the issues that are being faced by the people. My
perfectionist attitude was often disregarded by my peers as they believed that enforced increasing
work pressure on the same. On the other hand, I believe that assertiveness could have helped me
in this situation while enabling the collaboration and support among the peers. In this relation, I
believe that the maturity of a leader is based on the approach that is considered by the same for
empowering the activities of the self and the workforce. In this relation, I believe that making a
right choice of operations based on assertiveness could have supported me in developing
increased collaboration for achieving the common goal rather than pushing the people to achieve
the targets based on their value driven perfectionist ideologies. Therefore, I presume that I must
take s short course on minimizing the stress and making myself adaptable to different situations
which might create an indispensable value oriented operation rather than being a perfectionist.
Your leadership Assessments
As far as my leadership assessment is concerned, it can be stated that there are some
important facets that the leadership trait test comprises in the form of leadership role, leadership
ethics, self-confidence and experience of the leader. Based on this evaluation I am going to
evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of my leadership traits effectively. Based on the analysis
of my leadership role I score more than 100 that confirms my high readiness towards leadership
(Referred to Appendix 6). It can be stated that readiness is the initial step for a leader in order to
bring effective measure in the inceptive phase of leadership. Nevertheless, I come up with a
number of weaknesses like lack of intuitiveness which creates obstruction in taking adequate

decisions. This weaknesses have to be resolved as soon as possible so that it will be effective to
formulate a good leadership.
Leadership experience would help the leaders to face a problem and effectively resolve
it so that a good situation and environment can be evolved. As a matter of fact, it also proves the
ability and skill of the leader to handle crisis situation. In response to this, my leadership quality
has a prolonged history of leadership from personal to professional life. For example, in high
school I held an office in a club. Moreover, my in vacation trips or charity organisation I stepped
forward to lead my friends and family (Referred to Appendix 7). Therefore, it reflects a strong
practice and experience of quality leadership within my leadership trait.
Apart from that my leadership skills in a team is also considered to provide a strong
understanding of dealing and managing people with different characteristics. It can be articulated
that the role of leaders was to communicate with the co-workers so that a good cooperation
among them could be developed. Moreover, leadership could be proved in case of team work
where the ability of the leader to communicate and connect with the co-workers is highly
essential. However, all these factors are highly resonated within my leadership traits where I
encourage and energise my co-workers by communication and boosting their confidence
(Referred to Appendix 8). As a result of that it brings a great instance of team player attitude
within my leadership attributes.
Subsequently, it is important for a leader to put emphasis on the communication
practice. It can be stated that communication is the most useful tool for the effective leaders to
link and understand the abilities and skills of the co-workers. For running a successful team it is
important for the leader to gauge the ability of individual player. I also believe in the same aspect
and try to make a good and fruitful communication with my co-workers (Referred to Appendix
9). I have a good speaking ability and quality of speaking that help me to attract others. I would
like to use this strengths in my professional activities.
Moreover, the style of leadership is also considered to be an important aspect for the
business leaders in order to convince the management and influence the co-workers efficiently.
From the empirical studies, it can be derived that there are several types of leadership abilities
that a leader should possess. Therefore, my leadership quality is most likely based on a flexible
approach where I do not want to impose any decision on my team members forcefully (Referred
to Appendix 10). Rather conducting a meeting and ask them about their opinion about the
decision. Therefore, a good relation can be developed with my team members. However, lack of
taking judgement on important aspect questions the efficacy of my leadership ability. Therefore,
it has to be mitigated in course of time.
Taking decision in crisis situation also helps me to understand the fathom of
effectiveness of my leadership qualities. In this regard, I try to focus on spontaneity rather than
the knowledge of the team members (Referred to Appendix 11). It seems a great weakness for
my leadership ability because knowledge is part and parcel of effective leadership alike
leadership skills. However, I know about the fact that training and sense of motivation are very
useful for the leaders to motivate the workforce and run a successful team so that it will help to
set up good organisational skills.

Leadership ethics is also a recognisable aspect that can manage the efficacy of
leadership ability. As a result of that it can be stated that leaders are trying to guiding people by
setting examples. Therefore, using unethical measures can divert the entire workforce from
achieving the prescribed organisational objectives. It is also detrimental for the leadership skill
development as well. I am also corroborating this fact and trying to focus on the ethical
principles to guide the employees in a right way (Referred to Appendix 12). However, lack of
empathy sometimes makes me questioned the use of ethics in leadership. As a result of that more
learning about the importance of leadership ethics is required for my leadership development.
Pro-activeness of the leaders as a crucial aspect to reconcile issues before its erection.
The pro-activeness of the leader will also generate a positive and effective workforce
environment within the organisation so that it will facilitate the desired outcome. For my
leadership quality, it can be seen that I am very much concerned about the consequences and
took a number of steps to prevent any kind of risks in performance (Referred to Appendix 13).
However, high concern and expectation of risks cannot be an effective leadership trait because it
disrupts the spontaneous learning and development of the leader.
The self-assessment test in leadership also puts intense focus on the self-confidence of
the leaders. It is important for the business leaders to get prepared for different kind of situation
irrespective of good or bad. As a result of that the self –confidence of the leaders assists them
enough to handle and resolve the issues effectively. Based on the test, it can be stated that my
leadership trait is somewhat trembling in course of meeting new people. It means I am not
confident enough to meet with new people and as a result of that it questions my ability
(Referred to Appendix 14). Nonetheless, I am highly eager to accept any changes in personal or
professional life. As a result of that it seems a mixed situation for my confidence where I have to
work on the representation of myself to new people.
Based on this self-leadership assessment, it can be stated that there are some concerned
aspects in my leadership in terms of decision making skills, empathy and the self-confidence. It
is essential to evaluate this issues properly and then set an action plan accordingly so that my
leadership will be developed effectively. There are some positive facets within my leadership
like the pro-activeness and the analysis of risks on the basis of data and information that help to
make a rational and logical form of leadership trait. Moreover, putting emphasis on the
spontaneity of the co-workers is also assisted to create an effective and appreciable leadership
trait. By resolving the issues it will become more empowered and act properly. Therefore, a
leadership development action plan is required.

I would like to follow the transformational leadership as the model leadership practice
in my leadership quality. There are several importance of the transformational leadership that
influence me to choose the transformational leadership as the model leadership type. For
instance, the transformational leadership facilitated the opportunity for individual growth and
development. The notion of self-actualisation is associated with the process and as a result of that
it will help both the leader and the co-workers to develop their skills and ability to a great extent.
Moreover, the transformational leadership practice is resembled with increasing the performance
of the leaders and the team as well. Transformational leadership endorses a flexible workplace
culture that encourages both the leaders and the workers to nurture their creativity and innovation
to a great scale. As a result of that it boosts the performance of the leaders and reflects the ability
of the leadership quality.
In this regard, highlighting the specific characteristics of the transformational leadership
is very essential to fit my leadership traits with the features of transformational leadership
qualities. First of all, it can be stated that transformational leadership provides a positive force
within the leaders that enables them to control their ego and analyse the situation with their
ability rather than egoistic mind. As a result of that it becomes easier to eradicate any kind of
biasness and negative influence over the activities of the leader and put the interests of the
organisation before his or her personal gain.
Self-management is also identified as an important aspect of transformational leadership
where the leaders are able to manage themselves. It was the responsibility of the leaders to
manage themselves properly so that they could guide the employees properly. Therefore, the
self-management practice endorses an internal motivation for the leaders and they can use this
motivation towards influencing the employees in order to guide them to the right path of
organisational profitability. Empathy and self-actualisation are also associated with the self-
management practice of the leaders that will be beneficial for developing their leadership quality
profoundly.
The transformational leadership quality increase the leaders’ introspection of what is
right or what is wrong. In other words, the transformational leadership creates better practice for
the leaders to differentiate between right and wrong. As a result of that it will be effective for
them to set a good and effective organisational practice in the process of delivering success
towards the organisational objectives. As a matter of fact, taking the right decisions and
understanding the degree of importance of the situation is also made them a good and effective
leader. It will also be effective for the employees to follow the path of the leader ad bring success
towards the organisational expectations.
Another major aspect of the transformational leadership is to formulate a collective
organisational consciousness among the co-workers and followers. Collective consciousness of

the organisation is defined as the collective objective of the organisation and the employees that
will be beneficial for both of them in terms of making profit and progress in course of action. In
this regard, it is pertinent to have guidance from leaders so that the change can be turned towards
the right direction. Transformational leadership helps to get the collective consciousness and
creates a good relationship and cooperation between the organisation and the employees.
In course of discussion different aspects of the transformational leadership, it is pointed
out that adaptability of the leaders was considered to be one of the significant aspects of the
transformational leadership. It can be stated that it is within the quality of the transformational
leadership to facilitate an extensive measure for coping with the change in situation. In this
context, having in-depth knowledge about the job and different avenues of job must be within the
grasp of the leaders. In addition with this, the willingness of learning something new also enable
the leaders to fit in the new situation fruitfully. It also assists the organisation to venture dynamic
orientation and getting a strategic advantage in the competitive market. Therefore,
transformational leadership is highly required for the benefit of both the leaders and the
organisation.
Pro-activeness and lead with a vision is also essential for the transformational
leadership to put emphasis in order to bring effectiveness into the leadership quality. It can be
stated that pro-activeness leads to handle the crisis situation smartly even before the erection of
risk. Therefore, it requires a good vision and the strong nerve of the leader to manage and
mitigate the crisis situation. As a matter of fact, the role of the transformational leadership is to
facilitate an advantageous situation for the organisation in order to facilitate better and strategic
organisational activities.
Conclusion
The above discussion is trying to depict a clear discussion and evaluation over my
personal leadership reflection. Based on the reflection, it can be stated that there are certainly a
number of strengths and weaknesses that my leadership quality comprises. Through the
reflective report an action plan is set in order to develop a better leadership quality through
eradicating the weaknesses. Apart from that transformational leadership has been taken as the
role leadership style in association with the leadership traits of mine. Therefore, it can be
concluded that the report clearly elucidate different aspects of my leadership qualities and
suggests a range of steps for setting up an effective leadership quality.
