1LEADERSHIP IN BUSINESS
The implication of the proper leadership styles within a business firm affects the
performance of the firm in an extensive manner. The following paper attempts a comparison
contrasting of two scholarly articles that bear relevance to the transformational and the ethical
styles of leadership as is followed within the multitude of the business organizations active
internationally.
Caldwell et al. (2012) in the article entitled “Transformative leadership: Achieving
unparalleled excellence” discusses the importance of the transformative leadership within the
given organization in discussion. The following model of the leadership tends to deal with the
integration of the six different ethical issues that are related to the perspectives of leadership as
well as the combination of the various elements that are implemented by the leadership styles
that are implemented within the concerned organization refer to the issues that are helpful in the
creation of the long-term wealth of the corporate organization in discussion (Xu et al. 2015). The
article further argues on the fact that ethical factors that bear relevance to the development of the
model of the transformative leadership style that is presented within the organization.
Schaubroeck et al. (2012) in the article entitled “Embedding ethical leadership within and across
organization levels” discusses the linkages between the ethical culture and the ethical leadership
that is maintained within the concerned organization. The authors states that the ethical
leadership that is maintained within the given organization helps in influencing the employees of
the concerned business firms. This helps in the development of the ethical behavior among the
followers of the ethical style of leadership (Hoch et al. 2018).
The paper authored by Caldwell et al. (2012) tends to majorly discuss the various factors

development of the issues that bear a proper relevance to the culture that is maintained within the
given organization in discussion. The article had argued on the fact that the transformational
leadership takes into account the several governance obligations that are faced by the
organizational leaders. On the other hand, the article authored by Schaubroeck et al. (2012)
emphasizes on the influences of the ethical leadership on the organizational staff as well as the
overall performance of the concerned corporate entity in the given markets. The article tends to
discuss the theories of the ethical leadership and the implication of the same in the daily
activities that are undertaken by the concerned corporate entity within the given markets. The
article further discusses the ways in which the ethical leaders implement the leadership style
within the business firm.
The article by Caldwell et al. (2012) is observed to assume certain conditions that are
evident within the fields of the application of the leadership style. The major assumption that is
observed within the article highlights the mistrust that exists among the lower-level employees of
the organization regarding the consistency of the promises and statements that are stated by the
senior employees within the business entity (Caldwell 2017). The article claims the fact that the
leaders of the given business entity tend to be in pursuit of the trust of the concerned workforces
employed within the company. On the other hand, the article by Schaubroeck et al. (2012)
emphasizes on the fact that the ethical leadership tends to have a direct effect on the ethical
beliefs and the ethical conducts that are followed within the given organization. This leads to the
high levels of the influences of the concerned leader on the employees of the given business
entity. The article further assumes that the followers of ethical leaders tend to replicate the
leadership styles demonstrated by the concerned organizational leaders.
