ABSTRACTLeadership quality may not be possessed by each and every individual and hence requireadequate amount of efforts and positive thought process so as to become an effective leaderwhich can ultimately change life of his followers (Hui, 2015). To analyse various aspects andstyles of leadership in a leader, a description of various scenes of the movie Mandela: LongWalk to Freedom have been made. The central character, that is Nelson Mandela happens toreflect great leadership styles. One scene has been chosen is from the situation when he came outof the prison and reflected the qualities of a leader in his oratory speech. However, another scenethat has been chosen is from the courtroom scenario when Nelson was accused of sabotage. Onething that is common reflection in both the scenes is his visionary and oratory skills. Moreover, italso reflects his courage, confidence and determination to achieve a particular goal. INTRODUCTIONLeadership qualities can be demonstrated in an individual through positive thinkingbehaviour, far sightedness and remarkable endurance. The qualities of a real leader can beunderstood through a movie called, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. It is a British SouthAfrican biographical film which has been directed by Justin Chadwick from the written script ofWilliam Nicholson. It is based on an autobiographical book Long Walk to Freedom released in1995. It is based on the anti-apartheid revolutionary and former South African president NelsonMandela. The movie profiles his early age, education, 27 years of prison and finally becomingpresident of South Africa (Hale, 2017). Some scenes have been selected from the movie whichare helping in clear depiction of various leadership style and technique being possessed by thecentral character, Nelson Mandela. Further, the report also put through the argument thateffectively analyse each and every quality of Nelson through the dialogues being spoken by himin those scenes. In the ends, based upon the discussion and analysis section, ultimate articulationof the report will also be provided. The character of Nelson Mandela in the movie is itself a strong character representingleadership qualities. A moving ferry experience of life encouraging others to fight till the end.Showing forgiveness to the world even after spending 27 long years in the prison. He wasconsidered to have a powerful presence and was able to disarm enemies with his smile. He wasalso a visionary personality who could see bigger picture of every step. The determinant, patientand humble nature helped him to become a leader of million of people living in South Africa.1

Hence, the main purpose of the report is to understand the effectiveness of leadership issues thatare present in the movie, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.DISCUSSION AND ANALYSISA leader is considered to pursue the quality of strength and tolerance. Even after numerousfailures, the leader does not loose hope and walk towards the path of adversity, with the aim toachieve success. The same was reflected in the move Mandela where in one scene when Nelsonwas involved in the campaign of equality, he was sent to the prison (Ciulla, 2016). He spent 27years of his life in Jail. He was kept is a confined cell where he was forced to indulge in hardlabour. Since, he was a politician prisoner, he used to enjoy fewer privileges. It is obvious for anindividual to lose his hope after receiving inhumane treatment in the prison. However, Nelsonstayed strong and ultimately, he was able to fuel international outcry against racist regime ofSouth Africa. It reflects the quality of leader who never give up on things and worked towardshis vision. Another important quality of a leader is his humble and forgiving nature. The one to whomall the followers look up to. Moreover, the one who never hide his faults and failings. One of thecourtroom scene being addressed by Nelson Mandela as a first accused can help in betterdefining his leadership spirits (Cooke, 2016). The scene set up stated that nelson Mandela was ontrial in the high court of Johannesburg who was charged for treason and act of sabotage. Heagreed to the fact that he has been involved in Sabotage practices but his aim was not to createany recklessness or violence. He was able to put his aspect and perspective regarding demandingequal rights for black people as well. He stated that his fight is against white domination. Theaim was to provide all the people of Africa a place where people irrespective of their colours,live with harmony and peace. His strengthening words, courage and thirst of achieving successhave reflected strong leadership qualities in him. Moreover, his sacrificing nature for Africans tobring a change in the policies of social culture in South Africa were effective and impactful.Mandela build his own roads which is simply chosen by common people. It requires strongleadership qualities to deliver the best to the followers and become an ideal in front of them(Pitcher, Frankland and Jones, 2016). The scene also reflects Mandela stated regarding hecherished the idea of free and democratic society where all people can live together withharmony and equal opportunities. He lives to see this state of Africa. But, if required, he can alsodie to bring this change. The leadership framework reflected in this area was related to his thirst2
