1. Context
1.1 Introduction of CEO Christopher Luxon of Air New Zealand
Christopher Luxon has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Air New
Zealand in the year 2013 and under the leadership approach followed by him, the company
has been able to deliver the record profits, high scores on satisfaction of customers along with
high levels of engagement between the different staffs. Furthermore, CEO Christopher Luxon
followed the transformational approach to leadership which helped in improving the overall
aspect of the company positively and he is in the Pinnacle level of leadership as he had high
degree of skills along with natural leadership ability.
1.2 Overview of Air New Zealand
Air New Zealand Limited is flag carrier airline which is based in New Zealand,
Auckland, wherein the airlines operate scheduled passengers’ flights to more than twenty
domestics along with thirty-one international destinations in more than 19 countries in Pacific
Rim along with United Kingdom (AirNewZealand.com, 2019). The company was
incorporated in the year 1965 and the key people involved in the company is CEO
Christopher Luxon. The number of employees working in the company includes 10527 and
the revenue earned by the company is NZ$5,231 million till the year 2016. The company is

respective style of leadership, the subordinates are involved in the process of decision-
