Introduction
The report throws light on analysis of the two respective articles along with critical
analysis of the same. The entire critical analysis is required to be done with conducting
literature review along with analysis of the examples from the previous job experiences. The
two articles describe about the different leadership theories and practices that has to be
adopted by the different companies along with the individuals in every aspects of the life.
The proper and accurate analysis of the leadership practices with proper emphasis on
different theories along with values will be described in order to understand and analyse the
assumptions along with the values that are presented in the articles and the relationship to the
different practices based on leadership.
The main aim and purpose of the entire report is to understand the different concepts
along with analysis of the entire literature with the proper view that is required to be provided
on the practical analysis of the respective leadership theories.
Lastly, the entire learning experience has to be identified from each of the two articles
along with analysing the viewpoints of the different authors for improving the leadership
experience in an effectual manner. The accurate conclusion has to be drawn in order to
analyse and understand the implications of the literature.
Critique
Arguments Raised by Authors in Both the Articles
In the first article that has been written by Storsletten and Jakobsen (2015), it has been
seen that the leadership theory has been linked to the leadership practice that is the authentic
leadership. Authentic leadership theory is one of the leadership theory that is new and this
helps in constructing the different behaviours, traits, styles along with the different skills that

assists in promoting the ethical and honest kind of behaviour and this will create positive
long-term outcomes. As commented by Antonakis and House (2014), authentic theory is the
one that helps in making the leaders more effective in nature and they will be made more
equipped to deal with the different organizational challenges. Dinh et al. (2014) has
commented that there are different kinds of applications of the authentic leadership style in
different organizations
On the other hand, the other article referred to the different kinds of leadership
theories along with styles that are used in different organizations. Peter (2018) has
commented that there are different kinds of leadership styles and the analysis has been done
in identifying the differences between the male and female leadership approaches. The
respective research compared between men and women transactional, Transformational and
Laissez-faire leadership styles.
The two articles contrasted wherein the first article mainly focused on one leadership
styles, on the other hand, the second article focused on the different male and female
leadership styles.
Theoretical Perspectives
In the second article, the authors Silva and Mendis (2017) have discussed that there
has been provided on the theory on practice along with the implications of the authentic
theory approaches in the different phases of the work or in the professional fields. It has been
noticed that the different leadership development theories have been utilised as this helped in
suggesting that the female leaders have more transformational leadership qualities in
comparison to the male leaders (Ang and Van Dyne 2015).
In this respective article, it has been seen that the entire focus has been provided on
the transformational leadership styles wherein the focus is put on analysing the needs and

wants of the different followers in the organizations (Covelli & Mason 2017). Furthermore,
in the first article, it discusses on the different kinds of analysis on the authentic theory of
leadership that has a huge role in the workplace for managing the individuals in the
workplace (Day and Miscenko 2016).
Evidence of underlying assumptions and implicit arguments
The assumptions that has been included in both the articles are evident in nature as
they discuss on the different approaches of leadership that is required to be analysed. The
literature review that has been conducted regarding these articles include the different
analysis on the importance of the different leadership approaches in different circumstances
in an effective manner. It has been noticed that in the literature review that has been
conducted has adopted the approaches of leadership that highlighted the effectiveness of the
leaders in the different organizations.
Conclusions drawn by Authors
In the first article, the author has described that authentic leadership is important and
essential in the present scenario as there is huge decrease in the ethical leadership that
involves corporations. It has been analysed and identified that the leaders in the organization
in the 21st century perform different daunting tasks of making various decisions in business
and this includes the environmental scandal and distrust.
Furthermore, the authentic leadership includes creating positive along with long term
outcomes for the followers along with the different leaders of the organization in an effectual
and appropriate manner. In the first article, it has been analysed that the employees in
different organizations follow the authentic leadership approaches as this helps them in
maintaining the different kinds of grievances in much appropriate manner.

On the other hand, the second article discusses on the different kind of relevant
findings that include that the female leaders are transformational leaders and they possess
higher valued leadership qualities in comparison to the male leaders who are being employed
in the different kinds of organizations. It has been noticed that the female leaders favour the
transformational leadership approaches as this helps them in providing with different kind of
means to avoid the obstructions in performing the different kinds of activities in the
organizations.
In the article, it has been analysed that the leadership approaches are essential in
nature in comparison to transactional and laissez faire leadership styles as this focuses mainly
on the different kinds of restrictions that has been adopted by the employees in handling the
tasks effectively. However, in the transformational leadership style, it mainly focuses on
analysing the desires of the different individuals in such a manner that provides them with the
scope of retaining the different talents in the workforce in an effective manner.
Authors’ stance means for leaders, followers, organisations, and society
In both the articles, it has been analysed that the transformational leadership is one
such approach that helps in providing much focus on the needs of the different followers. The
transformational leadership approach includes the different kinds of grievances of the
employees or the followers in such a manner that will help the employer in managing such
issues effectively.
Transformational leadership approach and style is much into trend in the current
scenario as this focused mainly on the dynamics of the roles. The female leaders follow this
respective role in more effective manner in comparison to the other male leaders in various
workplace as this provides much focus on the needs of the followers as they feel that working

together will provide them the solutions in an easy manner in comparison to the laissez faire
or transactional leadership approaches.
In the first article, the author wants to analyse that the leaders and followers should be
working together in the different organizations as there should not be any kind of difference
between them. When the tasks are performed in an effectual manner, this is essential in
nature to focus on the both aspects of the individuals as this will help in performing the tasks
in an appropriate and effective manner.
On the other hand, the second article discussed on the organizations and society are
taken into consideration. It can be noticed that in different organizations, unethical behaviour
takes place and this is affecting the entire productivity of the different organizations. In the
current scenario, there has been different reports on various scandals wherein the essential
data are easily accessible by the various individuals in an easy manner. Therefore, it has been
concluded and seen that the authentic leadership style along with the practices of the
authentic leaders are based in the society that is individualistic in nature.
Relevant Leadership Theory
The transformational and authentic leadership theories can be adopted as these are the
most effective kind of theories. Both the theories are used by the leaders in the 21st century in
different organizations as this will help them in maintaining more effectiveness in the tasks
performed by them.
Among the two, the most relevant leadership theory is the transformational leadership
theory as this mainly focuses on analysis of the thoughts of both leaders and followers in the
different organizations effectively. In the present scenario, it has been noticed that the
respective leadership theory helps in analysing the different ideas that are relating to the focus
provided to both leaders and followers.

In the present scenario, the transformational leadership plays a major role in the
organization that provides focus on the different kinds of aspects in an effectual and
appropriate manner.
Learning Experience from Both Articles
From the articles, it can be learnt that the leadership is one of the essential approaches
and styles that has to be adopted by the organizations effectively. Proper leadership is
essential in nature in the workplace to gain the competitive advantage in the competitive
work environment and this will help in solving the issues in an appropriate manner as well.
The first article discussed on the authentic leadership approaches and the second
article focused on the transformational, transactional and laissez faire leadership styles that
has to be focused in an appropriate manner. The transformational leadership style is essential
in nature in the organization as this focuses on the viewpoints of the followers and leaders
and this helps in understanding both the viewpoints effectively without much issues included
in it.
Agree or Disagree with saying of Authors
I agree with the different viewpoints provided by the different authors in the two
articles. It has been noticed that in the first article, it discusses about the different kinds of
authentic leadership style and approach that has to be focused and this helps in analysing the
behaviour in an effective manner. Furthermore, the authors have commented that the
authentic leadership approaches can be adopted as to gain competitive advantage in the tasks
performed by the organization.
Practical Examples
In the previous workforce, there was a situation wherein I was the leader of a group.
The entire group had to perform a specific task within a specified deadline. As I was the

leader, I tried to handle the different tasks performed by the group members in an effective
manner. I tried to solve the issues of the members. I tried to follow the transformational
leadership approach that helped me in handling the grievances of the members effectively.
There was a situation wherein one member was not able to solve the tasks effectively,
however I tried to solve the issues by analysing the issues in an effective manner and this
helped me in reducing the different hurdles appropriately. This was one such incident that
helped me in handling the team in an effective manner.
Conclusion
Therefore, it can be concluded that leadership theories and approaches are essential in
nature in different kind of organizations in an effective manner. it has been noticed that the
organizations need to ascertain the different kinds of usage in different workforce. The
leadership approaches are essential in nature as this helps and assists in maximising the
efficiency to achieve the organizational objectives in an appropriate manner. Furthermore, it
has been noticed that the transformational leadership style helps in improving the entire
productivity of the organization along with increasing the emotional intelligence and grow
confidence in the team. The development of the leadership is crucial in the business as this
will help in growth of the business in order to maximise the growth of the business in an
effective manner.
It has been seen that employees in the organization who are women preferred the
transformational leadership approach that helps in achieving the organizational effectiveness
and solve the different issues in a much effective manner. Lastly, it has been noticed that the
organizational effectiveness existed as there is influence of the authentic leadership in the
organization and this helps in meeting the objectives in a much effectual along with
appropriate manner.
