Introduction
The essay helps in analyzing the different kinds of challenges which are being faced
by the various leaders in the different organizations in the present scenario. The challenges of
the leading a particular organization is required to be identified which will help in
understanding the different issues appropriately.
The needs of the change are required to be analyzed effectively as this will help in
resolving the different challenges in an easy manner. The main recommendations are required
to be provided which will be required to be analyzed for improving the quality of the
leadership development programs. The recommendations will help in resolving the different
approaches for development of both leaders and leadership in organization as well.
Challenges of Leading Organization in Present Scenario
In the present scenario, this can be analyzed that there are various kinds of challenges
which are being faced by the leaders in leading the organization in the current scenario. As
per Adner (2016), this has been identified that the various challenges are inclusive of the
developing managerial effectiveness among the leaders. This can be seen that the leaders in
the organizations lack efficiency which is the huge challenge of developing relevant kind of
skills which is inclusive of strategic kind of thinking, decision making along with
prioritization and this lacks efficacy in the tasks which are being performed by them.
On the other hand, Cashman (2017), has opined that inspiring the employees or
subordinates in the organization is the other major challenge as the leaders do not understand
whether the employees are being satisfied with the tasks which are being provided to them
to perform in an efficient manner (Lester & Kezar, 2017). Furthermore, this has been seen
that leading a team in an appropriate manner is the other major challenge which is being

faced by the leaders. It has been seen that the leaders in the present scenario are not aware of
team building and development of the team. There are various other challenges which is
inclusive of how to install pride and they lack knowledge on how to lead a big team as well.
Additionally, guiding the change is the other major problem in which the challenge is
relating to mitigating, understanding, mobilizing along with leading the change in the
organization (Cashman, 2017). The leaders in various organizations lack the knowledge of
handling the grievances of subordinates, there is resistance to change and dealing with
reaction to change among the employees as well. Lastly, managing the different internal
stakeholders is the other issue which is being faced by the leaders in the current business
environment as the management of relationships is one of the major issues faced by the
employees (Inyang & Ekeng-Ita, 2016).
From the above, this can be analyzed that these are the major challenges which are
being faced by the leaders in the contemporary business environment and this affects the
overall development of the firm as well. When a leader is not being able to handle the
various conflicts between the employees working in the firm, this will create huge pressure
on the firm as this will lose the overall productivity of the company as well.
Needs to Change as to Meet Leadership Challenges in Complex and Uncertain Times
From the above, this can be analyzed that there are various kinds of challenges which
are being faced by the leaders in the present scenario and this is affecting the overall
productivity of the firm in a negative manner as well. However, there are various kinds of
changes which are required to be adopted by the leaders in order to meet with the leadership
challenges in an efficient manner (Goddard, Hazelkorn & Vallance, 2016). There are few
steps which can be taken into consideration in order to become more efficient in nature to
address such common challenges appropriately.

Setting Goals is first aspect which can be taken into consideration which will be
helpful in managing the different kinds of activities in an efficient manner. The leaders are
required to be proactive in setting the goals for the organization along with establishing
appropriate timelines along with deadlines. This is necessary for the leaders to keep
themselves along with team members on track (De Paoli & Ropo, 2015).
While this can be identified that no leader can avoid the various surprises, however
setting of the goal can be beneficial for the company which will be providing map and this
will allow the leaders to refocus on the different top priorities as well (Adner, 2016). With the
implementation of SMART approach, this will help the leaders in managing the team
effectually and without much issues as well.
Specific- The leaders need to jot down the detailed description of the various tasks
which are required to be accomplished and this will help them in focusing more on the same
aspect without much worries (Bras & DeMillo, 2017).
Measurable- The leaders need to set the appropriate targets which can help in
quantifying the progress successfully.
Attainable- The leaders need to stretch goals, however this is essential for the leader
to focus on the goals and achieve the same excellently.
Realistic- The leaders of the organization need to understand the different
requirement of the resources and talent in order to achieve success as handling grievances of
employees is essential (Kickbusch, Cassels & Liu, 2016).
Timed- The leaders need to create deadlines for hitting the different milestones and
achieve the goals successfully as well.
