INTRODUCTION
Management is determined as systematic procedure taken into consideration in order to
get operations and activities done by workforce engaged in a workplace. For instance, it further
facilitates in ensuring effective and efficient completion of determined tasks and practices.
Management is basically determined at achievement of organisational goals and objectives.
Leadership is defined as practice of leading a team or group making up a workforce in an
organisation. Representatives engaged in leadership practice are aimed at directing, guiding, and
influencing employees towards completion of specific goals. Primary and major responsibility of
leaders is to encourage entire workforce or team in order to initiate efforts with best of their
potential towards completion of operations and activities carried out in workplace. British
Airways is a huge business organisation engaged in providing services in airline industry. The
respective company has been established and headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It has
been considered as second-largest business organisation in UK, after easy jet. This report essay
will be comprised of insightful information and knowledge of management and leadership issues
or challenges faced by respective organisation (Bush, Bell and Middlewood, 2019). Furthermore,
it will be including role of management and leadership in development of a business
organisation. It will further highlight various management styles and different leadership
approaches taken into consideration in order to be implemented in a workplace. Therefore,
recommendations will be further provided in order to improvise and enhance current and existing
scenario of respective organisation as well as prevention of issues or challenges faced by
workforce in workplace.

Inefficient Leadership and its impact upon workforce
British Airways is among leading companies in UK, engaged in providing airline services
to customers. For instance, respective organisation is operating with huge connectivity all around
the globe with enormous number of routes served to customers. It was founded in 25 August,
1919 in the name of Aircraft Transport and Travel Limited which further changes into British
Airways in the year 1974. Being a large scale organisation, a huge workforce is engaged in
carrying out operations and activities in workplace of respective organisation. As a result of
operating in dynamic business environment, management representatives of respective

organisation are determined at designing and implementing efficient strategies in order to cope
up with changes in business environment. It further facilitates in carrying out operations and
activities in an efficient manner with elimination of errors or deviations occurring in workplace.
Efficient management and leadership practices and activities plays a crucial role in managing
operations and activities being carried out in workplace. Moreover, it further contribute towards
development of positive and productive working environment (Golensky and Hager, 2020).
Management and Leadership has a huge importance in an business organisation in order
to ensure efficient completion of business operations and activities. For instance, it further
facilitates in encouraging and managing workforce to perform assigned tasks and responsibilities
in an efficient manner. Management is determined at improvisation and enhancement of various
factors engaged with core operations including Strategic Planning, Setting up of standards,
Controlling, etc. On the other hand, leadership contributes values towards communication,
engagement of employees, vision, etc. which further results in completion of determined tasks
and activities in order to accomplish defined goals and objectives. Representatives engaged in
leadership practices are aimed at motivating workforce according to need and requirement of
particular situation. An efficient leader always looks out for individual development of
employees and organisation altogether. There are several key factors for efficient management
and leadership development in a workplace of business organisation. It initially starts with
understanding of need and requirement of leadership in a workplace in order to identify and
determine effective dimensions of a leadership model. For instance, it includes analysing
working environment of a workplace with consideration of operations and activities carried out
in the same (Alchin, Arthur and Woodrow, 2019). It will facilitate in identification of need of
leadership in that particular workplace. It is succeedingly followed by another key factor which
involves providing employees with clarity in roles and responsibilities in their assigned tasks.
Skill development and training must be taken into consideration in order to ensure individual
development of employees according to their areas for improvement. In addition to that,
maintaining open and effective communication in workplace among employees in order to
enhance co-ordination and collaboration in carrying out operations and activities in an efficient
manner. Therefore, all these positive initiatives further contributes towards overall development
and growth of business organisation.
