INTRODUCTION Leadership and management skills play an important role in the life of individual to achieve more growth and success in the future. This type of skills helps the individual to effectively communicate and co-ordinate with the others. Leadership skills facilitate the individual to carry out the operations of the organisation in the right direction(Wells, 2021). As well as management skills helps to manage all the activities of the organisations in an effective manner. For this report, Tesco has been undertaken into account. It is a British multinational grocery company that was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen. Tesco have the supermarket across the UK and they have mainly operations in the segment like books, clothing, electronics and financial services etc.In this report various types of leadership and management theories will be discussed in relation to the organisation. Comparison of leadership and the management skills will also be analysed. Along with that there will be the evaluation of the various key performance metrics in relation to the organisation. At the end of this report there will be discussion about the management and the leadership performance. MAIN BODY Analysis and comparison of leadership and management Leadership can be defined as the quality of the individual which facilitates them to lead the operations of the employees in the company towards the achievement of the goal of the organisation(King, 2018). This helps the company to encourage and motivate the employee which results in the success of the company in the future. Some of the leadership theories are mentioned below in relation to the Tesco: Transformational leadership theory:This type of leadership can be defined as the relationship between the leaders and the employees in the organisation. This theory explains that the leader not only focused on the goal of the organisation but as well as they also encouraged the employees to work with their full potential. This type of theory helps the leader to involve the employees in performing the task better(Megheirkouni and Mejheirkouni, 2020). Leaders of the Tesco ensure that they give proper training to their employees through which they can do the work effectively. Leaders regularly motivate the employees to reach their full potential. Contingency theory:This theory explains that there is no one particular way of leadership style that can suit every type of situation. This focuses on that the leader should be flexible in nature as while choosing the course of action according to the requirement of the task. Leaders of the Tesco ensure that they should make the changes in the future if any problem arises in the company. This helps the company to work effectively with the new ideas and the decisions. Great man leadership theory:It is one of the oldest leadership theories that explain that the individuals are born with the leadership skills. It means that a person has the ability to influence the people from their birth(Holt, Hall and Gilley, 2018). Leaders of the Tesco Company poses leadership skills like problem solving, decision making and effective communication etc. This helps the company to carry out the operations in a given time and also help them in more growth in the future. There are various types of management theories that the management department of the organisation uses. It helps the business to take decisions effectively and also helps them to increase the productivity of the operations(Bush, Bell and Middlewood, eds., 2019). Different kinds of management theories are discussed below in relation to the organisation: Bureaucratic management theory:This theory was developed by Max Weber. This management theory focuses on that the organisations should make an effective structure in which the rules are clearly mentioned. This facilitates the manager of the companies to divide the work effectively to the employees and also help them to make strict rules and regulations in the company in order to carry out the work. The management department of the Tesco ensure that they should effectively divide the work by giving some authority to the employees according to the task. It facilitates the employees of the company to effectively communicate with the upper level of the management in a fast manner. Scientific management theory:It was developed by Fredrick Taylor which mainly helps the organisation to improve their performance in the market. This theory of management focuses on that the leaders of the companies should motivate the employees in order to reach the goal. This theory facilitates the leaders and the managers to effectively distribute the roles to each and every employee(Bottomley and Willie Burgess, 2018). Management department of the Tesco Company ensures that they should conduct motivation and decision making programs through which they can make effective strategies. This theory helps the organisation to achieve the goal and the objectives. Systems management theory:This theory of the management explains that a business consists of various elements that help them to carry out the operations effectively. In the company or the organization the employees are the most valuable assets that the organization has to achieve the goals and the objectives in the market. Manager of the Tesco ensures that they should collaborate with the different departments which help them to become more successful in the market.

They generally measure their performance by evaluating the profit they had generated. This indicator has the organisation to make changes in the course of action if the revenues are less than the predicted. Profit Margins:It is one of the most important tools that help organisations to measure performance in the market. In today's time the competition has increased so much so in order to survive business needs to generate more profit in the market. Profit is one of the main sources which help the business to stay longer in the market. Tesco uses the stool to analyse their performance as it directly contributes to the success of the company. Organisational leadership and management performance Leadership in organisation can be defined as the effective approach which facilitates the leaders to make new strategies and plans in order to enhance the productivity in the operations. This type of strategy helps the business to accomplish the goal and the targets that they have made. Leaders of the Tesco company are very experienced and professionals in order to take new decisions and develop new ideas which helps the company to generate more profit in the future(Golensky and Hager, 2020). On the other hand performance management is a framework that helps to measure the performance of the various employees in the organisation. This will ultimately result in the achievement of the target that has been made by the management department. Tesco Company ensures that they make a healthy environment in the company through which employees stay motivated. Company’s leaders and the management department work co-ordinately with each other in order to accomplish the goal. CONCLUSION From the above report it can be analysed that leadership and management skills play a vital role in the organisation to achieve the goal and the targets effectively. These type of skills facilitate the organisation to carry out the work in a right direction with the given time and resources. As well as the management skills helps the business to make effective strategies and plans in order to accomplish the goal.
