INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management is mainly defined as the process of controlling and guiding
the company as to attain the set goals. Effective leadership and management mainly helps in
building and developing better performance with managing the team to attain the set goals and
objectives to work better while operating in the dynamic business environment. Sainsbury is
mainly recognized the multinational company mainly serving wide range of food and non-food
products to large number of consumers while operating in the dynamic market. This report
provide detail about leadership and management theories with applying it in the workplace. Also,
comparing the two leadership styles and management approaches which impacts the decision-
making. Lastly examining the different leadership and management approaches and its impact
and roles in the leadership and management on the culture and performance.

Leadership and management theories are mainly aims defining about the focusing on the
trait and behaviour of the individuals as to attain the leadership position in the company. These
mainly help in focussing on the traits and abilities to attain the set established gaols for attaining
the competitiveness while working and guiding the company as to attain the set profits.
The behavioural theory: The behavioural theory mainly aims in defining about the
behaviour being acquired by the leaders while working in the company. For being an effective
leader in the company it mainly required the essential skills and the set of behaviour for guiding
the employees to work in more effective manner (Leadership Theories, 2022). This theory
mainly aims in defining that the leader must behave in the proper manner as to increase and build
the productive workforce as to establish the set business objectives.
The great man theory: This theory mainly belies that the trait of the leaders is being
acquired from when they are born (Tudor Car, Yaw and Arun, 2018). These skills and abilities
being acquired is the natural process which helps in remaining and being more respectable till
the time when they became the leaders to guide and rule the company as to attain the set
objective.
Transformational theory: This theory mainly aims in specifying about conducting and
working, which mainly influences the vision and guide the employees for adapting the changes.

This theory mainly indicates that the employees performing beyond their capabilities as the
leaders of the company mainly motivate and encourages to attain the set objectives.
Whereas the management theories includes as :
System management theory: This management theory mainly aims into specifying that
forming the company mainly includes various component as for functioning properly to attain
the set business objectives.
Contingency management theory: This theory mainly aim in specifying that there is no
one specific approach to management (Penegoes, 2020). as Various factors which impact the
internal and external operations of the company by influencing the structure, size and the styles
of the leading the business.
The scientific management theory: This theory aims in specifying of the employees
efforts o work hard for attaining the set business objectives this helps in optimizing the results to
attain the set business objectives (Management Theories, 2022). It helps in analysing that for
dining the business properly finances, human resources are the most essential part which helps in
accomplishing the set objectives. Further more, as with defining different management and the
leadership theory, with using the transformational and the system management in Sainsbury
helps in attaining set business objectives with adopting the changing and dynamic business
environment and result in attaining effectiveness for working In the company.

Comparing the two organization leadership styles and management approaches
Organizational leadership styles and management approaches are the two important
factors that must be considered by the companies in order to have the better growth. As there are
different companies and each company used to have different approaches and leadership style to
have the proper management of the work. The comparison between the two organization is as
described below:
Sainsbury Tesco
Sainsbury is the largest grocery store in the
markets of UK. This makes the company to
have better market share and have better
profitability in the market.
The company used to follow the democratic
leadership style that helps the company to have
betterment in the market. In this leadership
style the employees are free to make the
decisions and have better participation in the
decision-making (Fries, Netherlander and
Leitterstorf, 2021). The employees of the cited
company used to get the motivation by getting
participation in the decision- making. There are
some managers in Sainsbury that used to
follow the autocratic management style that
helps them to manage the day to day
operations in the company.
The company used to follow the collaborative
management approach that supports them to
have better team work and production in the
market.
Tesco is the British multinational store that
used to sell the variety of grocery items to the
people in the market.
The cited company used to follow the
autocratic leadership style that helps the
company to make the quick decisions. In this
the employees are not taken in order to make
the decisions as company has to adopt the
changes according to taste and preferences of
the customers. This makes the company to
have better management of the daily working
and operations which helps them to have good
profits (Alblooshi, Shamsuzzaman and Haridy,
2020). By having this leadership style it
improves the production and provide better
products to their customers in the market. The
company sometimes also follow the
democratic style as there are some decisions
that are required to be taken by having
participation of the employees.
The management approaches are those
approaches that helps the company to have
better management in the company. The cited

company used to follow the quantitative
management approach that supports the
company to know about the profitability in the
market. This quantitative approach also helps
the company to know about the quantity
required in the market.
It has been observed in many business organization that different styles of leadership results in to
the different outcomes. As this organization which has more flexible way of leadership in the
workplace tend to grow faster and achieve their goals smoothly than this organization who have
a very rigid way of working, as employees lack space of being creative and innovative. An
effective leadership style makes employees really creative and innovative in the goal
achievement.
The leader and management approach
The leader and management of the association play huge role and responsibility in the
functioning in the organization in effective as well as efficient manner. With the support of the
leader the individual person or the organization is able to deal with the challenges and lead the
marketplace in effective as well as efficient manner. In context to that the leaders of the
association follow such effective approaches for the welfare of the company are mentioned as
follows:
trait approaches: it is considers as the earliest approach of the leadership which is formed or
developed as per the research on the different leaders. The trait leadership includes various
characteristics of the individual person that help the association in completing the task on time
and accomplish the goals of the company in an appropriate manner. The elements of the trait
approaches are elaborated further:
 Physical: it includes the appearance, age, weight, height and capability to deal with the
various challenges for the development of the business (Westwood, 2021).
 Desired to lead: the leaders of the association has strong desire to accomplish the goal
of the company and lead the people for performing better and increasing the applicability
of the workers. With the desire the individual person take the responsibility for
operating the function of the company.

 Honesty and integrity: the leaders of the organization should build the better
relationship with the people in order to deliver the transparency to the workers of the
association. It is very essential for the company in order to increase and built the trust of
the people.
 Self confidence: the leaders of the organization should be confident enough to take the
challenges and motivate the workers of the association for meeting the goal and
increasing the productivity and profitability of the company. Do to hat the individual
person is able to provide guidance to the people of the association.
The behavioural approach: this leadership skills is also known for its effectiveness. It is the
scientific approach which focuses on how the leaders behave, take action and assume to
complete the task. In context to that the leader of the association should be motivating and goal
oriented to accomplish the goals of the company. In context to that the leader of the organization
provide training and development programme to the workers of the association. Along with that
with the positive nature the leader of the association is responsible for increasing and delivering
the positive culture in the atmosphere of the organization. Along with that with the support of
that the individual person cooperate with the variety of the people working in the association.
With the effective behaviour of the leader it is easy to conviences the people of the compay.
Along with that the leader is albe to reslove the provblem of the workers in an appropriate
manner. Due to which the company is able to satisfy the workers of the company.
The contingency approach: it is the approach which is utilized according to the situation.
Basically it is based on the situation in which the leader of the organization take the decision on
the basis of different factor varies in the current period (Rofuth, and Piepenbring 2019). The
leaders of the association is encouraged by the cretin movement and the situation. In order to
influence the leaders of the organization the association provide rewards to them according to
the requirement of the situation. In context to that the leader of the association introject or
coordinate with the workers of the company and treat them as the assess of the organization
rather than treating them as the liability of the company. Due to which the leader of the
organsation is able to satisfy the people orf the association and deliver the product and services
as per the taste and preferences of the consumer. In order to deliver the effective values the
gamer or the leader of the organsation make research on the circumstances of the association. In
context to that the leader of the association make effective assumption and encourage the people

in an appropriate manner. Furthermore, the individual person of the association share the positive
values, belief to the workers of the company.

From the above report it will be concluded that the leaders of the organization play essential role
in the management of the company in effective as well as efficient manner. The leaders of the
organization is responsible for increasing the growth of the company and manage the people of
the company for increasing the capability, productivity and profitably of the company. In
context to that the leader and management of the company follow certain style, approaches in
adequate manner. With the assistance of the leader the manager of the Sainsbury increase the
brand value of the company in an appropriate manner.
