INTRODUCTION For organization and individual’s success, leadership & management practices arevery beneficial. Leadership is referred as a process through which individual influences otherpeople to achieve the desired goals and give direction to the firm in such a manner that itbecomes more coherent as well as cohesive. Management, on the other hand is a process ofgetting the work done by the efforts of other people. For the success of the fir, there is a needof a strong leader and manager that helps in developing, encouraging and supporting thelongevity of the workers within the organization (Pride, Hughes and Kapoor, 2010).Pertaining to this, it is vital to evaluate the concepts, theories and approaches concerningleadership and management. The current research report also aims to evaluate the strengthand weakness of the theories and will focus on analysing the difference between the twoterms. Further, it will throw light on how successful leaders are being developed and willcritically assess whether good leadership can be developed or not. The final section of theresearch report will discuss about the personal experience of the researcher in regards withthe leadership. TASK – 1What is involved in being a successful leader?As per Bass and Stogdill, leadership is being referred as an art of leading people inregards with the performing right things at the right time as per the pre-determined vision. Italso aims to comprise each and every individual within the firm so that common objectivesare achieved successfully. Many a times, numerous professionals as well as authors havecreated varied methods and models encompassing the main ideas of leadership underdifferent stages and situations (Ricketts and Ricketts, 2011). They have also projected manyleadership theories such as Trait theory, transformational theory and situational theory. Thesetheories are being explained in the subsequent paragraph: Trait theory Trait theory of leadership mainly focuses on characteristics of the leaders. This theorycan also be used for forecasting the effectiveness of the leadership that is further comparedwith the leaders for accessing the probability of attaining success or failure. Pertaining to this,many leaders think that possess some or the other qualities which are exploited all throughouttheir life. Further, these qualities helps the leaders to augment the level of productivity of thefirm and helps them in giving effective direction to their followers so that goals are achieved1
