INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management skills are considered to be an essential employment skill.
This is because employment at corporations involves working with a team and in order to
enhance the efficiency of the tam, management skills are required. Leadership skills are needed
to direct the team towards a path which leads to organizational success. The present report is a
self-reflective report which covers the area personal leadership and management skills. Personal
leadership and management skills are assessed in this report with usage of specific mode. Plan
for range of leadership and management developmental activities is prepared in this report. In
addition to this e-portfolio of personal development activities and self-reflection is given in this
report.
MAIN BODY
Assessment of leadership and development skills
The academic model selected for assessment of leadership style is the DISC tool. This
tool is based on the behavioural and emotional theory of psychologist William Martson. Four
personality traits are included in this test which is Dominance, influence steadiness and
compliance. DISC model can be used to understand the potential of team development,
interpersonal relationships and leadership qualities in an individual. Application of DISC tool to
asses personal leadership skills is provided below:
Dominance: Individuals under this personality trait are encouraged by competition and
throve towards becoming the most successful. Individuals with dominance personality
trait focus on taking action, accept challenge quickly and are demanding strong willed
individuals. Leaders with this personality trait are task oriented and active.
Influence: The focus of leaders with influence is on persuading others and have high level
of optimism. Social recognition, group activities and relationships are the primary
motivators of this personality trait. Leaders with influence personality trait prioritize
collaboration and responsiveness. Influence leaders are people oriented and active.
