1. Introduction
The purpose of the study is to explore leadership qualities and their effect on the employee's
productivity and their motivational level. For this purpose, the Coca-Cola company has been
selected. The following sections are divided into different categories showing the competitors of
the company and how the company has cope with the competitive environment.
2. Seven leadership mindsets theory
The 7 steps in the modest theory are mentioned as
follows
2.1. Leadership as an Ability
Ability is actually the capacity of the person to do
anything. It leads to the common and very popular thing and it is simply known as the ability or
capability of the person to have his or her influence on the people towards the attainment of the
goals of the company. DuBrin, A (2013).
2.2. Leadership as a Behavior
This behavior has its 2 parts in which the first one is to do the job done and then there comes
second which is process behavior. In this one, in which a person gets the job done by fostering
the positive and inclusive culture of the company.
2.3. Leadership as an Influence Process
Influence is the same as the leader. If a person is a good leader it means that it is a good
influencer as well. (Reicher, S.D., Haslam, S.A. & Platow, M.J. (2014).

2.4. Leadership is a Relationship
Relationship maintenance is also very important for a leader otherwise, people will take his
commands or gesture as a rule. This theory promotes the main idea that there is a need to have a
positive relationship among the leader and his followers which will ultimately make the positive
results and vice versa as well.
2.5. Situational Leadership
Leadership needs to be situational as well. A person cannot and should not adopt the same
strategy every time. It can differ based on the delegation, coaching and directing the followers.
2.6. Leadership as a Skill
The skill is something which can be learned, so it means that a person can learn the leadership
skills and that it is contemporary that can be learned by anyone of they are able to learn from
others experience and mistakes and them implying that leadership skill is something which can
be acquired by a person. (Reicher, S.D., Haslam, S.A. & Platow, M.J. (2014).
2.7. Leadership as a Trait
At the last, but not least, good possess some traits such as Extraversion; Agreeableness;
Conscientiousness; Emotional stability; and Openness. These are the ones which help him to see
his company by a broader mind.

3.1. Participative Leadership Style
There is a style for leadership known as Participative Leadership Style in which the workers
have a high influence on the decisions of their works. In this type of leadership, all the
subordinates share their skills of decisions making with all their superiors to much extent. If the

workforce of an organization is smart and skillful enough then they would prefer participative
managers rather than directive ones. Now the new generation will definitely prefer to have a
good role in decision making. The following are the key components of Leadership. (Gordon
Tredgold (2013)
3.2. Supportive Leadership Style
Another style of leadership which is known as a supportive leadership style enables the
establishment of psychological support between the subordinates and the leader which leads to
the achievement of the goals, enhance the relationship of trust and respect and also improve the
environment of friendship and friendliness. A supportive leadership style is the one that creates a
pleasant atmosphere for interaction and encourages the employees, enhances their relationship
and looks out for the welfare of the workers and also builds a harmonious environment. (Oladipo
K. S., Jamilah O., Abdul Daud S., Jeffery L. D. and Salami D. K., (2013).
3.3. Directive leadership Style
A leader who adapted such style provides the specific guidelines in order to drive all of the
employees with activities which is managed by organizing all the tasks, also assigning the
required functions necessary to be done and also specify some rules and regulation to be
implemented, give schedules of the work and also establish a group in order to evaluate the
performance. (Shore, C. (2014).
4. Impact of Leadership Value Systems and Structures on leadership, management, and
staff
Leadership has a much great influence on the motivational level and productivity of the
employer. In the same manner, systems do also have an influence on leadership and leaders.

Sometimes, a person has given authority but he is not authorized to use that in real terms. This is
the situation that is very crucial as people thought it to be the fault of the manager or leader but
in reality, he is forced by higher authorities to do anything. The reality does not come in front
and people ultimately lose their interest. This is an obvious thing that when a person is having a
good and comfortable environment then the productivity of that person increases. (Leadership
styles (2014), When a leader is comfortable he will pass this onto others and in this whole
organization will be beneficiated. So, it is very important to make all leaders feel comfortable so
that a good gesture will be pass on to the employees working under him or her. Leadership value
system means a system in which leadership and management are having more authority and
power. (Shore, C. (2014). They are considered the ultimate success or failure of the organization.
Such an organization flourishes a lot in the market as they know how to deal with different
problems of their employees and how to keep them motivated to make their productivity high
and intact.
In the year 2001, it has been inspected by Yang et al that the connections among the project
supervisor management style and execution of the employees working. They use the information
from 213 reactions in the meeting and found out that there is a strong relationship between the
style of management and employee performance. In addition to this, they also noted that
cooperation to be emphatically identified with the employee performance and project write was
found to direct the connection between the collaboration and increase the productivity of the
employees. (Leadership styles (2014)
There are many different styles for leadership and a significant one like transformational,
transactional, genuine and style of the worker and inspiration of group got impacted. There is a
strong relationship between these styles and productivity and group inspiration is observed to be

adversely connected. It has been mentioned that the center of the leader around the leadership
style which assistance for rousing the colleagues.
The motivation of the employees is viewed as an inborn reality with the leadership style. The
style of leadership will be an important component that will be used for managing the aggregate
of people in social insurance and motivating them towards the goals and objectives of the
organizations.
5. Differences to your competitors
There are many competitors to the coca-cola company in which some of them are mentioned as
follows:
Pepsico.
Dr. Pepper Snapple
Red Bull
Nestle
Parle
Figure 1 TCCC & PepsiCo market Share By Category
The major difference between coca-cola and its competitors is that this company has made its
market into different segmentation. The marketing strategies also differ for different segments.

For example, your marketing will be then in a different manner then the marketing done for
calorie conscious people. This is very visible n their advertisement on social media and also on
billboards. The scope of the company is mentioned as follows:

7. To what extent are these differences positive points of differentiation or negative traits
of the organization
This different in marketing strategy is very good and in a very much positive manner then all of
its competitors as whenever the name of the beverage company comes, coca-cola is the first
name that comes in the names of the consumers. This is the win situation of any marketing
department. The most significant standard of Global Market techniques is upper hand which
resembles an absolute offer that is progressively alluring for the clients. This can be offered
favorable position to anything of the organization like value, item, and administration and
furthermore to the promotion and conveyance of the item too. (Strategic Management Insight.
(2013). The absolute offer must be increasingly alluring for having the fascination of the clients.
In the event that there are two organizations which are making same item and having same costs
and same quality and in the event that one of them begins making items at generally lower cost
and on the off chance that it will be fruitful in causing individuals to accept that its quality is
same as that of the other, at that point clearly its lower costs will give it upper hand. This
advantage can be existing only with the relevant companies. (Seijts, G. (2015).
8. How has the sector evolved?
Today, coca-cola is considered one of the best brand but this was not the case always. The
company was started in the year of 1886 and at that time, there was the usage of the coupon for
having some free drinks for increasing interest in their products. Later in the yea of 1892, the
marketer of the company names Asa Candler made the purchase of the coca-cola from inventor
finalized and the inventor was Dr. John Pemberton. Initially, the budget was 11000 dollars and
he used items like calendars, urns, painted signs on the walls, pencils for their advertisement. In
the year 1900 first time, the company got advertised by the celebrity names Hilda Clark and after

that, there were many others like Joan Crawford, Ray Charles, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin,
Arnold Palmer and Joe Namath who started working with the company. Then the company got a
space in the national magazine in the year of 1904. Later on in the year of 1911 the budget for
the advertisement of the company got much more and reaches up to 1 million USD dollars. Then
the company also started the use of billboards and also advertising themselves through radio
programs. (Shore, C. (2014).
All marketing ideas of the company were not successful. In the year of 1985, an effort was made
by the company for competing Pepsi and for this purpose, they decided for changing the formula
of their beverage after 99 years. (Kendra Cherry (2019). The new drink was knowns as new
coke and the response to this was much negative due to which, the company went back to its
original taste after having a downfall in their sales for about 79 days. In the year of 2009, the
company decided to go green by using 100 percent recycling bottles which were partially made
by the plant-based materials which were a very good step and it got the high promotion. In the
year of 2011, the company’s seasonal holiday packaging got met along with the disband by the
users and then for the first time, the coke was put in the white cans which the users think is the
same as the diet coke cans.
9. Ways do they differ to competitors
One of the biggest differences, coca-cola has from its competitors that the company has initiated
many CSR projects to make it sound ethically good company. The company has gained the
position of among the 10 most regarded brands of the world due to its commitments to CSR. In
most cases, it has been expressed as wright which the company exercises are likewise part of the
viable system of their business. In their report, it has been mentioned by them that the company
is trying to give many benefits from the practices of CSR. In many nations, such as India, US the

brand picture of the company is also scoundrel corporate a couple of years back. This was
majorly due to the CSR report which shows that the company is debasing and harming the water
by its creation and it is having results of drinks which contain the immense measures of
pesticides. Due to this, their items were prohibited for a considerable time and their sales reduced
by 15 percent. For counter measuring this, the company starts many new plants and new projects
for reducing the pollution caused by their plants to the environment and they did a project of
planting trees near their plants in order to reduce the pollution. (Strategic Management Insight.
(2013).
10. To what extent are these differences positive points of differentiation or negative traits
of the organization
As per my analysis, this difference is 100 percent in the advantage of the company. As it makes
the company stand one step ahead of its competitors and is recognized as the most ethically stand
organization. Coca-cola is much different from its competitors with respect to its marketing
strategies and also the advertising strategies. There are numerous campaigns done by the
company which has attracted the customers a lot and due to which their sales got increased a lot.
These strategies make them different from others. This can be seen in their theirs advertisements
on media and on billboards as well. They always have something new and innovative to attract
the consumers not just because of taste but also due to their fun things. (Kendra Cherry (2019)
11. Successful organizations are doing to embrace the changes
Changes are inevitable and they do occur in every organization no matter what. A good
organization is one who is able to cope with those changes. Changes are not always welcomed
and sometimes they do create a sense of discomfort and it ultimately reduces the motivational
level of the employees.
P a g e 11 | 18

A good organization is one, who able to motivate its employees in all conditions. This can be
done in different ways. In 1998, Martin and Bartol described that motivation is the most
powerful tool which helps to reinforce the behaviors and triggers the changes to continue or it
can be described as that inspiration is an interior drive so as to fulfill a fulfilled need and so as to
accomplish a particular objective. HR has a greater ability to make an upper hand for
associations when contrasted with budgetary assets. The exhibition of the workers relies upon
numerous elements like inspiration, evaluation, the fulfillment of employment, preparing and
improvement and some more. Be that as it may, the most significant factor is the inspiration as it
has been appeared to have impacts, all things considered, the authoritative exhibition. In 2010,
Kalimualllah has depicted that a persuaded representative has their objectives progressively lined
up with the objectives of the association and make his/her endeavors toward that path.
Furthermore, such associations are progressively fruitful if their representatives search for
various methods for improving their work consistently. Through motivation, a leader can make
his or her employees reach their full potential at work even under stressful conditions which are
often a difficult task to do. In 1996, Mary has also described that the effectiveness of the
organization to such an extent that it can fulfill its objectives and goals can be achieved by using
specific resources and by not putting its employees on conditions of stress. The effectiveness of
the organization is defined by the goal model to the extent to which an organization attains its
goals and objectives. But the system resources model defines it in terms of the bargaining power
of the organization.
Apart from it, a good organization should have a strong leader on his management as leadership
and management of an organization are the one who makes any company strong and firm. There
are two different meanings for the two. Management is the thing that lets things be completed by

others while leadership is the thing that lets others want to do the things completed by them.
Leadership is different from the management in the way that leadership is the thing in which
employees are getting motivated and encouraged by setting a new direction for the workers and
prepare the people for roles and situations beyond their current experience. On the other hand,
management is the thing that focuses on increasing and controlling the principals and rules of the
organization which somehow limit and restrict the employees. Leadership has undeniable effects
on the performance of the organization especially in the outcomes of the employees.
The behavior of the leaders has a great influence on job satisfaction and productivity and this
should be considered in an organization to make it successful. Other than the actions and
personal influence of the leaders, they should be empowered to take some important decisions
and should keep and run the operations efficiently and smoothly. It is very important for the
leaders to constantly be up to date about the new market trends and to identify new emerging
markets, which may be proved new business opportunities.
12. To what extent is your organization at the forefront of this transformation
As per the above-mentioned literature or information, it has been noted that the company under
consideration has much advantageous in terms of leadership and management. The management
system of the company is o smooth and fast-growing as well. The company has adopted itself in
almost all sectors of the world and they are leading everywhere and the reason is its good
management. (Research Markets. (2013).
13. Big issues organization is facing
If a company has a big name, it does not mean that it is not facing any problem. The brand under
consideration is also facing many problems and had faced many as well. A few of them have
P a g e 13 | 18

been discussed here among them one is that in the early time of 20th century, the company faced
goof financial performance but the earnings across the soft drinks have been slow decline due to
the less consumption and due to having increased competition. Competition is one of the major
issues the company is facing, as coca-cola is not the only big name in the industry of beverages
and there are many big fishes working on the same scale. The company needs to compete with
them otherwise, they will lose their consumers in no time. (Oladipo K. S., Jamilah O., Abdul
Daud S., Jeffery L. D. and Salami D. K., (2013).
One more major problem which the company had faced is that they call its carbonated drinks
category as sparkling beverages and from the past few years, these beverages come under much
great criticism from the agencies of health and users as well. Such drinks are mostly known as
CSD and they have been criticized for having a high content of sugar level and caffeine. The
agencies have also accused the company of having many diseases like obesity, diabetes, and
osteoporosis. Due to this, the consumers now become well aware and they started moving away
from the CSD drinks. The portfolio of the company has the inclusion of non-carbonated drinks
like flavored water, juices, coffee, and sports drinks. The sales of the carbonated drinks slid for
the 10th straight year in the year of 2014 as Pepsi and coca-cola both have posted their modest
declines as per the main industry report which has shown their volume has now settled to the
level which was in the mid of 1990s.

14. Required Key Actions
One main thing the company needs to do is to compete with its competitors in a well-structured
and planned way. The world is growing much fast and competitors are evolving day by day. The
company needs to update or refresh its marketing strategies from time to time so be in the minds
of the consumers as their first choice. For this, they need to either increase their portfolio or to
advertise themselves in different and innovative ways. Coca-Cola has always been known as an
innovator in terms of its marketing strategies and they need to maintain this thing as well.

(Research Markets. (2013). The market is very uncertain and it can change in no time so
companies need to be very sensitive about this.
There are 2 main trends that are affecting the CSDs business which is health concerned and the
expansion on the international level. As per the beverage digest, the white coca-cola has
improved its market a lot by having a share of 0.4 percent to 42.4 percent which is huge. So
solutions for solving the problems could be:
Increase in the health concerns along with some dollars, the company can use many
different strategies for grabbing the chunk of the market in the following manner:
o The spending in the market up.
o By focusing on the healthier variants of CSDs.
The company also needs to grow in demand in many European countries. No doubt that
the company is well established in the main geographic areas in China and Latin America
in which it is selling the CSDs. But the company should focus on scaling up the
operations in many other countries which are considered as emerging economies by
wider collaborations with the bottles. The company is making many great investments in
the manufacturing capacity as well and is steadily increasing in the marketing and focus
of the advertisement but there is always room for improvement which should be a focus
on to survive and rule the industry.
