EXECUTIVE SUMMARYChanges is a continuous process which occurred at workplace for redesigning anorganizational policies, strategies, structure, culture and so on. However, it is indispensable toadopt new things because it supports an association in various manner such as; aids employeeswhile accomplishing their business activities, recording confidential data, cope up withcomplicated situations and so on. British airways is one of the most successful organizationacross the global marketplace due to its outstanding services and on time delivery process.Therefore, overall report is focussing on requirement of change strategy and throwing lights onvarious approaches that is used by managerial team of an organization to handle reformation.Beside this, one thing must determined by company that changes is not easily acceptable becauseit hampers the existing environment of enterprise. Apart from this, “calm water” and “whitewater” these two major strategies are also outlining in this project for understanding the need offrameworks as per distinct circumstances. Although, situations fluctuates due to external andinternal factors. It means assessment of all the necessary element is mandatory for understandingeach or every aspect of change management that is taking place at workplace.In this reportdiscussed about the strategic and operational importance of change in organisations. Changemanagement theory, strategies and tactical options are defined and Kurt Lewis theory of changemanagement are explained in context of the company. Organisational development approachessuch as planned and unplanned approaches, business strategies and external factors are definedin context of BA.

INTRODUCTIONChange management is all about adopting something new, creative and innovative forattaining organizational objectives in defined time frame. According to Lichtenstein (2000) it isstated that “reformation in enterprise is a transformative change with the use ofcomplicated adaptive frameworks of change”. As a result, company can easily enhance theirsales performance with the use of modern technologies or any other effective strategies that isused by firm to attain organizational objectives. British Airways is one of the most leading andsuccessful aviation industries whose main motive is to offer best services to their desired clients.BA was created in 31 March 1974 with the merger of the two largest UK airlines, BritishOverseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways. A British airways board wasestablished by the British government to manage this airline corporation. Their main objectiveis to grab several opportunities emerging at marketplace due to fluctuation in various internal andexternal factors (Newton and Tarrant, 2012) . Thus, entire assignment is focussing on two majorchange metaphors that is “calm water” and “white water”. Beside this company is trying toimplementing redesigning process in proper manner with the use of appropriate model. Hence,entire procedure of accomplishing changes at workplace is going to be outlined in this project. TASK I) Planned and unplanned approach of changeBritish Airways is a very popular across the international marketplace due to theiroutstanding policies and effective strategies adopted by company to run their business. Managersof an enterprise believe in using advanced technology as well as various new ideas to improvetheir organizational performance from marketplace. However, managers are trying to establishtheir goodwill at various foreign marketplaces by adopting number of beneficial approaches andmodels. Their main objective is to cope up with fluctuating factors such as; trends, emergence ofcompetitors products, redesigning of legal policies and so on. Beside this number of factors areidentified that which enforce an organization towards implementation of planned and unplannedchange at marketplace (Smith,2011). Planned approach of change- Planned change can be regarded as the strategic move bythe respective organisation which is implemented for the purpose of changing the nature ofbusiness in which it performs its business operations.
