INTRODUCTION
Business ethics are defined as the moral principles which act as directives or guidelines for
the way an organisation run its business operations. These are the form of professional ethics
which examine ethical or moral issues and ethical principles in the business environment. Marks
& Spencer is one of the well-known business organisation established in year 1884. It
successfully run its business operations from last 137 years in an ethical way. This project
evaluates business ethics in Marks & Spencer and covers the justification of choice of
organisation. It also includes discussion about significance of business ethics for the company
along with ethical theories.

Marks and Spencer is among the most iconic brands of United Kingdom which was
founded in year 1884 and offer home products, food products and clothing to customers. The
founder of the company was Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer and its headquarters is located
in London, United Kingdom. It is a commercial business organisation who successfully
operating its business since last 137 years. The main reason of selecting Marks and Spencer in
this report is that it is committed to do right thing in right way for the colleagues, suppliers,
customers, environment, local communities and shareholders. The business upholds some code
of ethics and behaviours in order to make sure that highest integrity and honesty standards are
maintained. Apart from this, the organisation is well suited with the topic, i e., Critical evaluation
and discussion of business ethics. While dealing with customer, stakeholders, suppliers etc.
business uphold ethical values. All the employees in the company need to adhere to the ethical
codes and policies. Marks and Spencer aims to perform business with these standards and
committed to maintain dignity and respect of employees, administer honest, clear and accurate
communication to stakeholders. Thus as the organisation is ethically committed, it is selected to
critically evaluate the business ethics.
