1.0 INTRODUCTION
Drug overdose is related to use of the chemicals for purpose of developing pleasurable
impact on brain. In all over the world, there are more than 190 million drug users and this issue
has been enhancing at the alarming rates among adults under age of 30. Long term damage to
body drug abuse, the drug addicts who mainly use needles are at risk of contracting the hepatitis
B and C infections and HIV. The drug abuse are psychoactive drugs which are mainly used
through people for different reasons (Brady and et. al., 2017). In regards to this, addiction is
disease that impact on behaviour and brain. Millennials are more affected from drug overdose
than the old generations.
1.1 Drug Abuse in UK
Copper Smith (2021) Stated that drug abuse is when an individual uses the illegal or legal
substances in ways a person should not. It might take care than continuous dose of the pills. The
drug overdose can be intentional and it can mainly occur when an individual takes more than
medically recommended dose. Main cause of the drug overdose is either through the accidental
overuse or intentional misuse. Millennials can ingest mistakenly incorrect medication or take
wrong dose of medication. The drug abuse occurs when a millennial use alcohol, prescription

abuse issues are quit or make changes in unhealthy behaviour. In year 2016/2017 around 1 in 12
(8.5%) adults age among 16 to 59 in the England and Wales has taken illicit drug in last year.
This level of the drug use was same to year 2015/2016 survey (8.4%) but less than decade ago
(10.1% in year 2006/2007 survey).

have impacted all age groups and also communities. Its impact on the people in 20s and early 30s
has been pronounced specifically. Nationwide opioid epidemic has led to sharp enhance in death
rate for the overdose through teens and also millennials. Deaths from the drug overdoses were
from the opioids, illicit and prescription drugs for an instance heroin. Surge in the drug poisoning

deaths among the young adults and millennials reflects ease of the access to pharmaceutical
drug.
1.3 Factors that cause high use of drug among millennials

death of despair those consists alcohol, drug and suicide among the millennials. The issues faced
by millennials from drug overdose can contribute to the mental health conditions. In regards to
this, mental health is one of the primary risk factor. People with the drug addiction have one or
more health related issues which consist heart disease, cancer, mental health conditions and lung
disease.
1.5 Measures implemented to prevent millennials from drug overdose
According to Stephanie Lee Peglow and Ingrid A Binswanger (2020) Better way to prevent
addiction to drug is not to take drug. If doctor prescribes drug with potential for the addiction,
use care when using drug. The drug overdose can prevent in several ways. Better method to
remove the opportunities for the accidental or triggers overdose for the intentional overdose in
first place. If an individual uses the prescription drug, assure to use them directed through doctor.
It is necessary not to combine medications without first asking doctor if this is not safe. Person
should not mix the alcohol with the prescription drug without checking doctor first.

situation can be eliminated and the health of millennials can be improved.
3.0 RATIONALE
The present investigation is related to impact of drug abuse on millennials health.
Conducting this investigation helps in providing the information about the different causes about
the drug overdose. It helps in determining the issues faced by millennials from the drug overdose
(Shiels and et. al., 2018). The rationale behind conducting present investigation is the personal
and professional context. In the personal context, the understanding and skills of an investigator
will be enhanced regarding the research project. On the other hand, in professional context,
analytical and research skills of researcher will be enhanced to conduct similar kind of
investigation in future. This research helps in providing the detailed understanding related to the
drug overdose within United Kingdom.
4.0 AIM AND OBJECTIVES

Method
Research design/approach
Research approach can be defined as a plan or procedure that comprises of various details
of the data collection methods, analysis as well as interpretation. There are different types of
research approaches that can be used by the researcher based on the requirement of the study.
But the most common approaches to research are quantitative, qualitative as well as mixed
methods. The researcher should select the research approach by carefully understanding the
needs of the research. In order to complete this project, quantitative approach has been used
(Ashwood, Jerosch-Herold and Shepstone, 2019). This will help the researcher in completing the
research on time as well as in an effective manner. On the other hand, research design can be
defined as the overall strategy that has been chosen in order to integrate the different components
of the study. As a result, the researcher is able to address the problem in an effective manner.
The research design for this study is experimental and will allow the researcher to describe the
situation of the file (Salem and et.al., 2019). Experimental research design will be effective for
the completion of this study because the researcher will be able to better understand the
requirement of the research and fulfil the same in an appropriate manner. Therefore, it can be

Discussion
Reflection on possible findings
From the research proposal, it has been observed that drug overdose is very harmful for
people, especially millennials. It leads to an increase in the overall death rate, suicides,
depression etc. There can be various factors that can lead to millennials start using drugs
(Hasanzadeh, Mohebbi and Rostami, 2019). For example, a lack of family involvement can
make them feel left out. Apart from this, a family history of drug use can also lead to young
people starting to use drugs in the first place. There are different studies that have been
conducted and whose results show that an increased use of drugs among millennials can pose
serious health complications. It can be said that there is an increased requirement for the public
health policy and practice to be improved. This will help improving the healthcare facilities for
millennials who are suffering with the condition of drug overdose. Also, it has been found that
such people have to face various challenges. This can include the suicide and death rates
increasing among millennials and this is specially related to people who consume synthetic
opioids. Drug overdose can have a negative impact on the overall health of millennials and this is
because when a person consumes a certain kind of drug, it is likely that it will have after effects.
Different measures can be implemented in order to prevent millennials from drug
overdose. This will not only help in eliminating the risks to the health, but also promote good
health (Kapa and Erikson, 2020). A general practitioner or doctor must be consulted in case the
situation becomes serious. Appropriate medication, meditation as well as exercise can contribute
towards eliminating any health effects as well as promoting elimination of drug overuse. Other
potential findings of the respective research include that people who deal with an overdose of
different types of drugs, have to face many challenges. This is because they are not able to do

their day to day activities in an effective manner. Implications for public health policy can
include restricting the usage of drugs as well as medicines that have not been prescribed by the
doctor. This is because it can gradually lead to becoming a habit and thus pose serious ill effects
to the overall health of the person.
Limitations
It is suggested that new rules should be included in the public health policy so that
millennials will be able to stay safe from any serious health complications that are caused due to
excessive intake of drugs. There were some limitations that the researcher encountered while
undertaking the research. These included budget and time constraints were among the major
limitations of the study (Leonard and et.al., 2019). During the process of data collection, the
researcher faced issues because there were some respondents who were not interested in
answering some questions. This also impacted the overall process of data analysis. Sampling
error was another limitation of the respective research because initially, the sample did not
reflect the general population. Research methods play an important role in the process of data
collection and making informed decisions. After the process of data collection, the researcher
realized that the other research methods could also have been adopted. There are other effective
methods that could have been adopted such as interview method or observation method. Since
the number of participants of the research was limited, there was a limited access to data.
Therefore, it is suggested that the researcher should have carefully planned the process of data
collection so that the results obtained would have been accurate and reliable.
Limitations within a research can affect the overall quality of the research to a large
extent. Therefore, it is important for the researcher to make sure that they plan all the activities of

process of data collection is then affected. In order to make implications, it can be said that there

involves considering the target audience as well as the setting wherein the findings of the
research have to be obtained. It is an important process within research because the findings of
the study that has been undertaken have to be disseminated to the people or readers who will use
and implement them in practice. In order to disseminate the findings as well as results of the
research, the results will be published in the health policy briefs (Mostafa, Tang and Wu, 2019).
Not only this, the researcher can also publish the same in national journals as well as statewide
publications in order to make sure that the results reach the readers and are used in the practical
application. Local community groups as well as stakeholders should also be presented with the
results. This will help in making sure that the results of the study are used in an effective manner.
General information related to the findings of the study can also be published in the local
newspapers. Apart from this, a press release of the results can also be done in order to ensure that
the results of the study are disseminated among people who will benefit from the same.

disseminating the process. Therefore, the researcher will use the different social media platforms
such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This will create awareness among the people and

health events that are held from time to time. It is important to make sure that the information
relating to the results is disseminated during such events. This is because these events are held
from time to time and also, attended by a lot of people. Since the topic of the research is centred
towards millennials, it is important to disseminate the information among them. Hence, this can
be done during school events as well as college fests. As a result, the people will start
understanding the concept as well as the management of the institutions will also take

will also be targetted in order to disseminate the findings of this research in order to generate
awareness and enhance existing knowledge of the people about the negative impact of drug
overdose on millennials.

CONCLUSION
From the above research proposal, it can be concluded that drug overdose can impact the
overall health of millennials in a negative manner. The key rationale of the respective research is
to develop an understanding of the different ways as well as level in which the overdose of drugs
can impact the health of millennials. There can be various causes of drug overdose, such as a
family history of drugs or lack of involvement of the family members. Apart from this, a regular
intake of pills that are not prescribed by the doctor, can also impact the overall health of
millennials. As a result, there are certain side effects of the drug overdose as well. As a result,
there is an increase in the rate of death as well as suicides. The intake of drug can also have an
impact on the mental health of millennials. Therefore, it is important to make sure that
appropriate measures are used in order to eliminate or reduce the negative impact of drugs. In
order to complete this research, quantitative methods have been used to make sure that the data
can be collected as well as analysed in an effective manner. Quantitative methods are useful in a
research because they allow the researcher in presenting the results of the research in the form of
numbers, graphs as well as statistics.
The potential findings of the research include that the overdose of drugs can affect the
overall health conditions in an adverse manner. It has been found that there are different causes
that can lead to poor health conditions due to overdose of drug. Individuals who do not have
support of their families, are not able to complete their daily activities in an effective manner.
Therefore, it is recommended that proper rules and regulations should be made that must be
followed by the millennials. Medical facilities should also be made available so that in such
cases the situation is handled in an appropriate manner. But there were also certain limitations of
the study, such as the research method that was opted affected the overall data analysis process.
Apart from this, time as well as budget also served as limitations and had a slight impact on the
overall quality as well as submission of the research.
In case if similar situation is encountered during future studies, the researcher will make
sure that the research method that has been selected for the collection of data is reliable and
chosen carefully. This will allow the researcher to complete the research in an effective manner
and the readers will also be able to enhance their existing knowledge about the research topic. To
conclude, it can be said that while undertaking a research, the researcher should ensure that they
select the most appropriate research method for the process of data collection. This is primarily

because data collection is among the most important components in the research as it can affect
