Importance of Learning Outcomes and Personal Learning Outcomes Template

This article discusses the importance of learning outcomes and provides a personal learning outcomes template for students. It also includes subject learning outcomes for a nursing course and tips on achieving personal goals.

Learning outcomes are statements concerning what you would like to have accomplished in your learning by the end of a module or degree programme.
Learning outcomes may focus on:
• your personal learning goals
• particular achievements you would like to aim for (such as a mark or degree class)
• specific knowledge or techniques you would like to acquire
• transferable skills that could contribute to your employability
• progression towards larger learning goals.
These learning outcome statements may be more meaningful if you think about and reflect on the wider context of your own learning journey as
you develop them.
To help you this semester, you need to think about your own learning and elements that you would like to concentrate on this semester. I encourage you
to think about what you would like to achieve, what skills you want to learn and how you might achieve these through your readings and discussions with
me and your fellow students.
Take some time to consider these in the first 2 weeks of this session and complete the template supplied. You will need to refer back to this for your
last assessment. You will need to submit these by Friday of week 2.
