INTRODUCTIONLegislation in tourism and travel means to provide true and correct information andstatements to its customers. Punishment is given to organisation for providing false informationand breaching the law (Weiss and Dupont, 2018). This case study will be based on Thomas CookAirlines which is a British based airline that serves mainly from Gatwick Airport and ManchesterAirport. This report will explain the legal and regulatory framework of travel and tourism as wellas sea, surface and air transport laws in reference with England and Wales. Impacts of principlesof health, safety and security legislation on travel and tourism will be determined in this report.Furthermore, this report will explain the contract legislation and consumer protection in relationwith travel and tourism. Moreover, the ethical dilemmas faced by travel and tourism sector andCorporate Social Responsibility of travel and tourism business will be explained in this study.1.1 Legal and regulatory framework of travel and tourism1

Legal and RegulatoryFrameworkThe structure which governsthe travel organisations,agencies and airports comesunder tourism law. A systemof rules which governs thedecision making is known aslegal framework and toenforce these rules is known asregulatoryframework(Boniface, Cooper and Cooper,2016). With the installation ofsome specific laws, a steadygrowth in tourism sector ofThomas Cook was observed inlast few years. Tourismlegislationinvolves-Development of TourismAct, 1969: British TouristAuthority introduced it.Through which organisationswhich involved in tourismsector can be co-ordinated.Visit Britain was formed byclubbing of British TouristAuthority with EnglishTourism Council. This providefinancial assistance forprovision of new hotels,improvement in existing hotelsThey are responsible to performits obligations properly laidunder this act. This is to ensurethat holiday package given bythe operator is protected byPackage Travel Regulations1992. Toprovidestandardprocedures, establishment ofright and duty of both peopleand tourism company involvedin tourism sector are mainobjectives regarding theinstallation of tourismlegislations. Some regulations which affectthe tourism laws of a countryare- International Air TransportAssociation- It refers toassociation of trade of world'sairlines. This is concerned withproviding safe, reliable andsecure air services to itscustomers. It is a privateorganisation which promotesco-operation among world'sairlines (Vellas, 2016.). Withthe help of IATA, ThomasCook is offering standardisedservices to its consumers. ThisCivil Aviation Authority-This is responsible forupdating regulations and lawsfor aviation safety andairspace usage (Standing,Tang-Taye and Boyer, 2014).It ensures supervision oftesting equipment, training ofAir Traffic Engineers,managing of securitystandards and issuing ofpilots' license through whichdevelopment of travel andtourism sector can beincreased.Process- ACAS aims atimprovement of businesspractices through developingemploymentrelationspositively.Structure- Denied BoardingCompensation Schemes- Aspassengers are affected bydelays, overbooking andcancellation of flights. Tosolve this problem, process ofticket bookings are simplified.2
