CASE STUDY Part A: Lek 1 Outline your understandings of Lek's rights in this situation As given in the case Lek has recently shifted to Australia and she and her daughterfollows Buddhist religion. Thus they both follows many rituals like changing the outer garmentsonce or twice a day, placing a silk sash over the shoulder and offer prayers. This affected otherpeople staying in their neighbourhood. Lek was not invited in residential activities and staffdiscriminated her as they were not liking the way Lek was praying and using incense sticks. Lekhas all rights to follow and adopt religion according to her choice. 2 Identify two possible consequences for any breaches in Lek's rights The two consequences which show that Lek's religious rights are breached are listedbelow- Some staff and residents were not allowing Lek to pluck flowers for worship. Incense sticks affects many people as they think it will lead to fire. As per the rules and regulations of government everyone has the right to adopt religion ofhis or her choice and nobody should complaint about rituals of ant religion. 3 Key factor which will contribute to cultural conflict in the workplace with the followingroles- Domestic staff – The Kitchen staff was having problem with Lek as she comes to Kitchen insearch of food during busy periods (Nadal, And Et. Al, 2015). Also there were some residentswho were having problem of cough because of incense sticks. Maintenance staff – the gardener complained that Lek pick flowers from garden and offers foodthat attracts pigeons and this leads to soiling the ground. Core staff – Lek used some rituals of her while taking care of her patients. But some aged carestaff do not like this kind of assistance of Lek.4 As an enrolled nurse, describe how you will be going to respond If I was assigned as the nurse, I will put efforts in making people understand that they aredoing wrong by discriminating Lek. This is not right to hate a person if he or she is from anotherreligion. We all are human beings and follow different religion and we should respect all peopleand their religion.
