INTRODUCTION
Diploma in Adult care can be understood as competence based qualification for the one
who work and study within Health and Social Care. It is necessary because it helps to enhance
the level of skills and knowledge which helps individual to deal with different situation which
arises in front of them. In context of the file, various topics will be explained which will be
related with communication. There will be discussion that communication affects the
relationships in the work setting, barriers will be explained and also topic related to
confidentiality will be discussed.

1.1 Identify the different reasons people communicate
In today's era it is necessary for every individual that they must communicate because
it helps to solve number of issues which people face on daily basis. There are number
of reason that people like to communicate with other in order to support individual
needs and some of the reason are mentioned below:
 Sharing ideas and information- There are number of reason in which people
wants to share there ideas and thoughts with any of the other person and in that
case they are required to do communication. Effective communication can
help individual to share there ideas and informations.
 Finding the individual likes and dislikes- There are some of the condition
where people like to find that what are there likes and dislikes of an
individuals. It is also one of the reason that people involve themselves into
communication (St Pierre, Hofinger and Simon, 2016).
 Taking advice as per the requirement of situations- In some of the situation
people like to take advices from other people and for that it is necessary that
they must present there points that what are those points where they need to
take advices with the help of effective communication.
 For giving Instructions- Communications can be also done for the purpose of
giving instructions. Here, it is necessary that while giving instruction people
should try to find that best possible way of communication because that will
be the key source through which the person who is listening to the instruction

can work accordingly.
These are some of the reason that people like to communicate and even this
helps them in number of occasions for achieving personal milestones.
1.2 Explain how communication affects relationships in the work setting
In current scenario, communication is one of the most important thing for any of the
individual for achieving personal milestones (Murray and et. al., 2015). It is
understood that any of the organisation, communication can be the effective way
through which employees can perform there task in best possible manner. It can be
one the way through which any of the conflicts can be sorted out in best possible
manner. It can supports the individuals when they are recording the important
informations. It can affect in building the health relations among the colleagues. It is
one of the process which help to develop any of the process within the organisation to
find the conclusion.
1.3 Explain ways to manage challenging situations.
It can be said that communication can be one of the way through which any of the
challenging situation can be solved as it helps to generate the idea related to the
situation. Secondly, whenever any of the challenging situation arises it becomes
important that person should try to find the main facts that what are the reason that
problem have raised. Then, it is important that plans and policies should be developed
which can provide the guidelines that how any of the matter can be tackled in the best
possible manner.

There are number of factors which are required to be considered while
promoting the effective communication because it is the only way through which
