Importance of management in a library
It is important for everyone who works in a library to understand something about
management even if there do not have a plan of being a manager as because a library is a place
which is known for being a sub discipline of the institutional management. It is the known for
focusing on specific issues which are faced by the libraries and library management
professionals. Therefore the librarian is known for having knowledge about the intellectual
freedom for managerial tasks such as fundraising responsibilities as well as managing various
types of books in racks. The issues which are faced by the librarian in managing the library is
known for frequently faced by the nonprofit organization in managing various types of actions.
Basic managerial actions which are faced by the librarian in a library are planning and
negotiating the acquisition of materials. Stock maintenance as well as overseeing the fee
collection, Event planning, fundraising and managing the human resource are the primary work
of a librarian (Popoola, 2017).
A librarian should have the basic management skills which will help him to perform
professionally in a library. Managerial skills will also provide access to information and
sometimes the social or technical programming information will help the library to provide
instruction on information literacy to the students. Therefore a library management system is
known for reducing the cost of management in the library it is also system which is known for
eliminating the needs to employ huge amount of labor and workers in order to keep the manual
files which in a process helps in cost reduction. According to the authors Moran and Morner
(2017) a library management system or LMS is software which is known for handling the least
