2 INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT Introduction The report is prepared for the development of the library management system and manage the different library functions for reducing the human effort and provide better service to the users. The information system can also help in management of the other administrative task for example data processing and inventory. Main Processes The main process identified for the development of the library management system are given below: Development of the information system for replacing the manual library management system. Development of a database for recording the item details and user information. Develop a search function for handling the queries and handling different types of searches like author, title, publication year, etc. Create separate login for the users and the administrators Development of a user friendly interface that is easy to understand. Developmentof themodulesforproducingtechnicalreportsandlogsforthe management of the events Increasing security (Only the administrator have the privilege to update or modify the records.) Data Stores It is used for creating a repository of data and connecting with the process and name containing adjectives and nouns. NameRegistration Table

NameBook Store Alias Description of the contentThe updated details of the books are stored in the database. Supporting Description Inputs/ Outputs Thedevelopmentoftheinformationsystemwouldhelptheusertoprovide information about books, materials and users registered with the information system. There are different functionality that can be added with the development of the information system such as facilitating electronic catalogue for getting the location of the books and increasing the efficiency of lending process by keeping records of the item lent and the information of the borrower. The system would automatically provide an output result displaying the details of the book and the user requesting for the book. Non-Functional Requirements The non-functional requirement for the development of the library management system are given below:
5 INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT Usability Requirement –A web browser should be used for accessing the interface and no special training should not be required for using the information system. Availability Requirement –The system should be available for 24 hours and 365 days and the for the maintenance it should be done on the weekends. Accuracy –The system should respond at a real time and there should be no concurrency issues for providing access reliability. Reliability –the system should be 100% reliable and the database should be backed up such that no data is lost. Performance–Thedatashouldberefresheddependingontheupdatesand modification and the response time of the system should be minimum. The large processing jobs should also be done within 10 second and for the normal jobs the information should be returned to the user within 5 seconds. Efficiency –The repair time if there is a failure should be minimum and the system should recover within one hour. Maintenance and portability –The changes in the name of the user or any other changes in the database records should be verified and the system should generate automatic notification for overdues and reservation on assigning the book for the new user.
