From the structural issues tothe fire sustainability, cost, and aesthetic factors are major issues, which the stakeholder in this industryconsider. Even with these advancements in the technologies on materials to be used, the builders haverelied on the traditional methods and materials for their construction. This raises the issues on theeffectiveness of these technologies.The light gauge steel has been recommended for use in the construction industry in the different partsfrom the frame structure to the floor sections. Nevertheless even with its approval for use, theimplementation and it use in the market has been slow and therefore able to raise issues of itseffectiveness (Allen & Iano, 2014). Many stakeholder in the construction industry seem to be reluctant onthe survey and investigation on the materials and methods, which will be able to enhance the constructionindustry. Although analysis has shown that, the use of LGS is able to benefit the industry severalchallenges do exist. Nevertheless, the challenges are seen to be to the major cause of the slow adoption ofthe method in the industry.Current state-of-the-artThe weight issues, cost duration of construction and efficiency of the construction materials has led to therecommendation of the LGS for the construction purposes (Ansari, 2005). Nevertheless, due to thelimited knowledge on the effectiveness of this material, the adoption has been slow in the market. Thecontractors and homebuilders have stuck on the traditional methods for their construction (Del Pico,2012). With the LGS, the contractors and homebuilders can take much less time in the construction of thestructure compared when they are using the concrete and other materials. This is one of the factor, whichis able to increase the effectiveness of the use of the LGS in this industry. The LGS requires theassembling of the frames and its parts and the process is complete. The costs in the construction industryare directly related with the time taken for the different processes.Therefore, with the use of the LGS, the cost of the construction is reduced significantly and thereforeenhancing the efficiency of the construction process (Ansari, 2005). The need to control the cost factorson the construction industry are able to arise every day. Therefore, even with the slow implantation of thisprocess, it is key to note that it is an effective technology, which needs to be embraced. Structuraleffectiveness is another key factor, which the construction is able to rely on. The safety of the structures iskey to the success of the industry (Watkins, 2011). The LGS has been tested in different conditions andthis proves that the LGS is a key and effective material, which can be used in the industry.Research objectives/hypothesesThe major objective of this study will include:To examine the structural effectiveness of the LGS in constructionTo examine the cost effectiveness of the LGS in different parts of buildingSet a test model of the LGS framed structure and examine the time factor of the assemblingVerify the experimental results which are generated to test the effectiveness of the LGS ondifferent parts of the structureResearch methodologies
