INTRODUCTION
Listening skills are referred as the abilities of student to understand, receive and interpret the
message and lecture in proper manner in order to gain information accurately. Active listening is
the important part of the communication process. If there listener is not active or he has no
ability to listen effectively than messages are not understand properly. Effective listening plays
important role in high education to capture all lectures and gain proper understating about
specific topic to enhance learning and experience. In this report various challenges in effective
listening and strategies that are implemented by the teachers to enhance students listening skills
are covered.
TASK
Three listening challenges
As listening skills are very important for the students to receive and interpret the lecture in
proper manner and gain academic knowledge from them. Is student not take proper attention on
lecturers or not listen carefully than the messages and educational concepts are misunderstood
that affect their overall learning process (Ebadi and Rahimi, 2017). In the process of
communication, there are various challenges are faced by the student that impacts on their
learning and experience. Some of challenges are described below:
Linguistic listening challenges: There are various challenges are faced by the students
regarding linguistic listening challenges that impacts on effective listening skills of students.
There are various factors are included such as use of unnecessary accent, chose the improper way
to deliver the message or lecture and include high vocabulary that enables the students to
understand the message properly (Csizér and Tankó,2017). As teachers use the high-level
vocabulary and accent so, students face difficulty to understand or listen the delivered message
appropriately. If complexity in speech structure is the challenge that affect the active listening of
students.
Technical listening challenges: Technical challenges are related to the hemicraniectomy
or thrombolysis that affect the listening skills of student as there are high range of technical
terms, nouns are used in lecture that enables the student to understand the meaning of words in
proper manner. All these challenges and problems limits the learning process because students
are not able to know the basic concept of lecture.
