1LITERATUREAnswer oneBeowulf is an epic hero. The fights in Beowulf increased the higher shade of epicnature in the character of Beowulf. The grandeur of the epic was more clearly executedduring the fight. The fight was conducted in a heroic manner. Beowolf was brave in all thethree fights and the fight was conducted in land, in sea, in forest. It added up to the epicnature. The first battle was a graphic one. It was between Beowulf and Grendel (Eugenio andDamiana). It was the test of his physicality. Beowulf tore off the arms of Grendel and in thisbattle where Beowulf fought for his fame and to prove his popularity. In the second fight hedefeated Grendel`s mother. The significance of this battle is the execution of the Grendel`smother`s feminine power that to some extent masculine in nature. Beowulf represented theadult stage during this battle. He acted in a more defensive manner. This fight was conductedin the lake which made him more heroic. In the third battle Beowulf fought with the dragonthat occurred after fifty years. It was towards the end of his life and it represents his doom.The symbolic representation of this battle was the opposite traits of being a good king. Itrepresented guilt. Unfortunately this fight brought an end to the life of Beowulf (Kaplan andJeff).Answer twoThe characters of the epic heroes are larger than life. Beowulf comprises of all thecharacters that an epic hero should consist. He includes characters like honor, brave, valiant,he consist the superhuman strengths. Beowulf delivers his loyalty to his friend king Hrothgarby keeping his words and helping his friend by indulging in three dangerous battles. In all thebattles he displayed his bravery and he fought with his bare hands and in one of the battle hewas left alone by other men but he fought till the end of his life. Beowulf displayed his heroicstrengths in many instances in the epic piece. His major heroic characteristics in the novel are
