INTRODUCTIONThe topic of this assignment is the Randomized Evaluator Blinded Study of Effect ofMicroneedling in Androgenetic Alopecia. This part is on the scholarly paper to discuss theeffects of microneedling process for the treatment of Androgenic Alopecia (AGA).Microneedling is the current form of advanced version of acupuncture, whose side effects arenon-existent that has shown remarkable results. It will put insights on the re-growth of hairthrough following the mechanism of Signaling pathways to understand this technique’simplications on humans.LITERATURE REVIEWOverviewAGA or MAA (Male Androgenetic Alopecia) is a medical condition which generallyoccur both in men and women. However, it affects mostly the men and popularly known as hairpattern baldness. It is triggered by the hormonal imbalance in androgen and affects the temples,mid-frontal scalp, mainly top portion with crown hair, thinning the hairline that gradually lead tobaldness. According to observations made by Inui and Itami, 2011, this event takes place whenDHT (dihydrotestosterone) enters the hair follicles through the passage of DP capillaries, whichare aligned to other DP cells with the help of androgen receptors and stimulate the MAAproduction.Hair follicle miniaturization is the histological hallmark of androgenetic alopecia. However, genetically, it is susceptible to men with hereditary past.Methodology of MicroneedlingThis microneedling procedure is safe with minimal invasive with respect to dermatologyprocesses. It comprises of various steps where the scalp will be shaved using normal saline andbetadine. Addition to this, use of varied needles of different size like 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm etc. hasbeen rolled over the affected areas by a derma-roller. This roller can be moved inmultidirectional sides like vertically, longitudinally or diagonally until the redness on the skin isvisible. This is referred as the last step and before going further, the patient must wait for 24hours.Here, as per Mella and et.al., 2010, the emphasis is underlying on DP (Dermal Papilla) isthe location where the needling part will be implemented as it is the activated site for1
