LITERATURE REVIEW 1
Literature review
It is observed that solar car is a common topic for the research and
numerous papers were published in the last five years that highlighted each
and every point related to the solar car. The goal of this section is to
identify the key features of the solar car and analyze the findings and
results of previous research papers based on the selected topic.
Moraga, Xamán, and Araya, (2016) examined that solar cars combine
various technologies including aerospace, automotive industries, alternative
energy and so on. Mainly, solar cars depend on the solar array which
utilizes photovoltaic cells in order to convert sunlight into electric energy.
In this generation, the use of solar energy is growing quickly and the solar
car is one of the best applications of the solar system which helps the
consumers for taking advantages of solar energy. A recent study identified
that most of the solar cars have been developed for the objective of races
where the users use solar cars for increasing speed and effectiveness.
According to Zhao, et al., (1997) solar system based cars are able to provide
effective results to the consumers in terms of performance and also
maintain issues linked with the conventional models. From this paper, it is
observed that the conventional solar cars included a drive system which is
powered by a battery and solar-based system that contained various parts
for example; drive shift, controller and motor. The below figure shows the
block diagram of the conventional model which included solar array and
batteries but it was less effective and appropriate in terms of performance.

From previous literature, it is observed that by developing and
implementing solar-based cars the consumers can reduce the cost of fuel
and enhance the performance of vehicles. Chen, et al., (2014) supported
this argument and reported that solar cars have the capability for
controlling and managing the effectiveness of cars and uses hybrid
technology that reduces the cost of fuel effectively.
