Stress has become a new normal these days. People get frustrated, angry or nervous with
the age. Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. Body reacts by the external changes
that impact the emotions of a person. It can be positive also as sometimes it helps the person to
avoid danger. The feeling of stress majorly impact in ageing and skin of a person. Stress is more
common in the aged people and its symptoms include aches and pain, chest pain, trouble in
sleeping, high blood pressure, muscle tension and digestive problems. This essay will aim the
issue of stress and its impact on ageing and skin. It will also critically evaluate the stress and
discuss “Is it possible to live stress free?”
Stress impact the human body in various ways. The emotional feeling of tension lead to
the anxiety and frustration. Stress has been defined by many people in different terms. Early
psychobiologist had discovered the connection between emotional and physiology. It has been
stated by Cannon that emotional feeling led to changes in the physiological changes (The History
of Stress theory. 2017). The relationship between stress and disease is now well establish.
However, it has not always been recognized. According to the father of stress research Selye
described the term “stress” as non-specific response of the body to any demand (Robinson,
2018). This impact of stress lead to the various changes in the physical body. It lead to the
major changes in the ageing and skin of a person.
Impact of Stress
The impact of stress on the nervous system lead to the structure changes of the brain that
result in the various physical changes. People suffer with anxiety , depression seems to look
disappointed in everything. Stress has always been a part of life and cause physical impact on the
human body. Stress lead to the increase in the blood pressure of a person. The emotional feeling
of a person cause hyper tension and the body start to reacts according to the feeling and lead to
the increase in the blood pressure. Stress causes production in the surge of hormones. These
hormones lead to the increase in the blood pressure by causing narrow blood vessel and heart
beat faster.
There are majorly two types of stress that are physical and emotional. Both stress impact
with intensity on the older people because as people get old their wounds heal more slowly.
People lose theirs physical and mental ability as they get older . It leads to the high stress and
causes various other disease in the body such as digesting issues, heart disease, diabetes and

Depression (Bremner and et.al., 2020). Older peoples with high stress has to face such problems.
Constantly being stressed lead to increase in the blood pressure and causes various problems.
The old people have weak body and the stress have high impact.
Wrinkles are common with the ageing but these days people look more aged than thy
actually are the major reason behind these appearances is the stress and is impact ion the skin.
People look more aged when they constantly face the issue of stress. People with low level of
stress looks happier and younger. It is because the impact of stress on the skin. Stress in the older
people are more common as various issues are increased with the ageing of a person. The
immune system of older is weak, older people get sick when they have to face emotional and
physical tension. Tension harms the body in different ways. People live with stress and it slowly
impacts in vision and hearing loss too as long term adrenaline production in the body constrict
blood vessels, leading to temporary decrease in hearing and vision. Psychological and health
related stressors often occur in advance ages. A survey by Enrico Mossello shows that the health
relate Stress is highly prevalent in older adults (Mossello and et.al., 2017).

Skin is the most reactive and sensitive part of the body. Stress causes chemical response

impact on the skin as the low stress creates positive impact on the body that also include skin.
The skin gets soft and healthier as people live stress free of with low level of stress. The bad of

Skin infection such as acne are commonly caused by stress it leads to the increase of stress.
People are concerned about appearance (Valentine and Shipherd, 2018). Skin problems or acnes
affect the look and appearance of a person that lead to the increase in the stress about their
physical look and impression. Such stress lead to increase in the skin problems. Skins have a
great relation with the brain as body respond to the changes in the phycological state that include
condition like stress, anxiety and depression. It leads to the increase in the new skin problems or
increase in the existing skin infection. The release of hormones like cortisol and adrenaline into
body lead to negative effect on the skin health. Stress impact the immune system of the body
that also causes other skin issues such as rashes, hives and redness.
Loneliness and isolation are two very common stressors for ageing adults. This impact
can be seen during the pandemic. People became more stressed and depressed during the
pandemic as the social and human interaction helps the body to reduce the stress. They were
isolated and it was affecting the mental health as the impact of covid-19 were the major stressor
on the people (Anniko, Boersma and Tillfors, 2019). The pandemic has forced many government
to strict laws to stop the spread the infection of virus that lead to the isolation of the people. It
affected the mental health of people in various ways as the physical connections were restricted
it led to the increase of stress and depression in the people.
The major disadvantage of the stress is the loss of memory. People being constantly
stressed have low memory capability as the excessive release of stress hormones damage the
brain and reduce the strength of remembering things or task. Sit has become more common in
adult also as the stress of being alone lead to the higher depression and overthinking, it weakens
the memory of brain and causes other issues such as challenges in adopting changes easily and
forgetting things. Research showed that if a person is stressed during the event it is hard to
remember the details of the event (Valikhani and et.al., 2019). Stress covers the wide spectrum
of circumstances that lead to the cause of different effects on the memory such as acquisition,
consolidation and retrieval of information. People face various memory loss issues during the
stress and it affects the other activity of a person. When anxiety is very high people face more
complexity with the things and task. Short term memory loss is the very common issue in the
stressed people as they always have something related to the stressor in their mind and lose their
concentration that lead to lose of memory and analysis of the details in the event.

Stress can also be positive as stress improves brain power According to the metal health
association low level of stress produce brain chemical in the body that is known as neurotrophins
and develop and strengthen the connection between brain and neurons. It is the brain exercise
that improves the brain functioning (Magnavita and et.al., 2020). The better brain performance
causes develop et in the body function that creates various positive impacts. Old people with the
habit of brain practise live happier. Another positive impact of the stress is that it lead to the
increase in creativity of a person. Stress build brain exercise and improve critical thinking ability
that help the person to solve major challenges in life. This ability helps the person to live stress
free or with low level of stress. However, it can be critically evaluated that stress is not good for
the body because people have to face various issues both physically and mentally. The ability of
brain to think critically is the major positive effect of the stress. A person with stress tries to find
various solutions to remove the stress it lead to the development of critical thinking and the brain
exercise lead to the positive impact in the brain health. Brain is the centre of the body health of
brain affect physical health. It is necessary to keep the brain healthy. Stress is also caused by not
taking proper nutritions as people with proper and effective diet looks happier and stress free as
compare to people who do not take necessary nutritions.
It is impossible to live stress free life by human being as there are various activities, task
that they need to be performed in order to effectively fulfil their respective wants. The level of
stress generally depends on physical, emotional, mental and energetic challenges that cause issue
in effective function of brain. Likewise, there are around 44% of American that has significantly
reported about experiencing high level of stress, due to more work load to complete the task in
given time frame. Furthermore, in recent scenario, there are multiple stress that individual is
facing in personal as well as professional career that has lead in negative impact on their health
and well-being. For examples: there are many people that are dreaming of getting a retirement to
beaches of Hawaii in order to live stress full life (Polizzi, Lynn and Perry, 2020). Many of the
report has also shown that the major reason for having high stress among individuals is poor
health, lack of availability of resources, concern about the finance and many other. However, it
can be started that the stress free existence is not related to remove the cause of stress rather than
finding alternative method that could be used to response to stress.
Furthermore, there are two type of stress such as good stress that is known as eustress
while the bad stress is distress that have range of effects on health, skin and body of the person.

happy when having a baby or if anybody like to enjoy the thrill then, riding a roller coaster will
contribute in making it happy. While, there is another type of eustress that helps in improving
overall performance of individual to some point only, for examples: there are many employees
that take lot of stress when work load or they are given more task that contribute in making
effective utilisation of their available skills, knowledge and capabilities for growth and
expansion of firm (Simioni and et.al., 2018). Moreover, there are two type of people that have
experience same time of pressure but they react differently as some have capabilities to
effectively handle the situation while other started becoming panic. Therefore, the people needs
to find out alternative method that could be used to deal with situation in order to stay healthy
and fine even in the elderly age.
With increase in age, individual face high level of stress level, anxiety and other because of
professional and personal issue that results in creating more stress on mind of the person. Stress
is inevitable and a person face stress on regular basis in their life, whether it is personal and
family matter or professional issue. Such as there are many workplaces in which discrimination
is being promoted that create frustration, irritation in the mind of people. At the same time, they
are being forced to do work overtime, 24*7 or even on Sunday that results are causing them
stress because of lack of sleep and more stress. Other than this, there are many personal issue in
the family that make a person much stress (Sheriff and et.al., 2017). So stress free life does not
mean that things will not happen that contribute in introducing stress in life. Thereby the person
need to have consciously control over their life, decision, effective planning of task, strategy to
deal with particular stress and eliminate unnecessary thing for living many years.
On the other hand, it can be stated that “yes it is possible to live stress free” if the individual
has better lifestyles, good eating habits and proper sleep. As the major reason for having stress in
life is hectic schedules, number of roles, responsibilities, task that need to be performed that
results in causing mental disorder or more stress to the person. Such as, the people can start
doing meditation by waking up early in the morning to reduce their anxiety, and have deep rest
for around 20 minutes. Along with it, people needs to get enough rest to dissolve their stress and
fatigue as when they take rest they feel calm and effectively able to handle the problem. For
better sleep and less stress, avoid doing more intensive activities before going to the bedroom
likewise, watching the movie (Yaribeygi and et.al., 2017). In addition to this, it can be stated that

balance diet with plenty of fruits and vegetable also contribute in reducing the overall stress level
of individual to maximum extend. As research has also shown that the food contains necessary
vitamin B, E, mineral that helps in reducing the overall stress level. Therefore, it can be said that
this is the major steps that could be help in living a stress free life.
There are more strategies or set of action that could be taken by the individuals to have
stress free life such as make list of things that need to be completed during a particular day. So
that there is less mismanagement of things that should be completed and stress cause to the
person. It contributes in organising and staying focus with less amount of stress and better health
and well-being. Individuals needs to stay relax, clam and have positive attitude even in worse
situation in order to find alternative solution to cope up with this will results in reducing the
stress level and less impact on health of the person. In addition to this, doing exercise on regular
basis, focusing attentively on the task that need to be performed will contribute in reducing the
chance of conflict, confusion and much stress (Gjoreski and et.al., 2017). For example; doing
Gym, yoga, swimming, jogging at moderate level three time a week is great diet for reducing the
stress in life. To eliminate stress, there are some individual that focus on building good
relationship with people, understanding their point of view, and avoiding unnecessary talk. So, in
short it can be termed as “ to live stress free life just depends upon the individual choice towards
its life in terms of nutrition, task performed and lifestyle.
From the discussion in the essay it can be concluded that, stress is the non-specific
response of the body to any demand. The changes in the emotion and physical activity lead to the
increase of stress. It has various impacts such as loss of memory and high blood pressure. It is
more common in the older people. Stress affects the skin and ageing in different terms that has
