Local Area Networks (LAN) - Assignment_1
IntroductionOur system is a setup of an organization or a company that has two servers, separated by the applications/Services they run. The company has two Local Area Networks (LAN) which have been connected and can communicate. The two servers are located in their own unique Local Area Network, and the client machines are connected to the same Local Area Network. The design is done using Cisco Packet Tracer[ CITATION Jes14 \l 1033 ].Challenge encounteredDuring the design, the greatest challenge faced was the acquisition of resources. Resources needed to come up with a practical and working network structure were expensive and therefore hard to acquire. The challenge was solved by coming up with the design in packet tracer first which would make it prove more relevant and secure in complexity than it was without the design.Design
Local Area Networks (LAN) - Assignment_2
Each of the Local Area Networks is comprised of a router that connects to the internet and connects to the other router of the other Local Area Network[ CITATION Cis06 \l 1033 ].Figure 1: Local Area Networks. The system uses Virtual Private Network enabled routers which help secure the system from external sources such as the internet. The configuration is, therefore, using private Internet Protocol addresses which will only reside in the network system[ CITATION Joh11 \l 1033 ].
Local Area Networks (LAN) - Assignment_3
The subnet system for the client side uses the IP Address 192.168.10.0 which is a class C private network. The subnet mask used is 255.255.255.0 which is equal to /24 (11111111.11111111.11111111 .00000000). The minimum possible host IP address will 192.168.10.1/24 (11000000.10101000.00001010 .00000001) while the maximum host IP addresswill be 192.168.10.254/24 (11000000.10101000.00001010 .11111110). The maximum allowed host machines will be 254[ CITATION Jam07 \l 1033 ]. All the connected computers will be connected to the switch which will deliver packets to the main distribution switch. The switch is then linked to the router which will be linked to the router on the server side. The server side has its own Local Area Network using the IP Address 192.168.20.0 for subnetting. The sub network will, therefore, hold a maximum of 254 machines with the Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 which is equal to /24 (11111111.11111111.11111111 .00000000). The initial IP address will be 192.168.20.1/24 (11000000.10101000.00010100 .00000001) while the maximum IP address will be 192.168.20.254/254 (11000000.10101000.00010100 .11111110). The subnetwork is also a class C network[ CITATION Mic161 \l 1033 ].Task 1:
