In this context, the retail industry of UAE has been taken in order to understand the
supply chain within the sector. Cook-a-box is the selected company that delivers groceries door
to door. There are three primary upstream supply chain in the name of Carrefour, Union Co-op
and LuLu Hypermarket. Cook-a-box is an UAE based organization who is the indirect customer
of those organization. Those upstream supply chain deliver the required products through the
downstream supply chain in terms of the distributors. For an instance, Spinneys, Choithrams, Al
Maya and Al Safeer are the distributors that distribute the raw materials and products to cook-a-
box. From that point of view, it can be argued that Cook-a-box is a reliable customers of those

companies. From the above drawing it can be stated that there are interconnected supply chain
among the companies. Direct and indirect connections with Cook-a-box has been made in this
context.
