management and people management in operation and supply chain
In the current business scenario, logistics and supply chain management are treated as the
most important. As per Wagner et al. (2020), efficient as well as effective management of the
supply chain is very difficult in the healthcare sector. It also increases the complexity that is
caused by globalisation purpose. Cambridge University Hospital is an NHS hospital and they are
reliant on their ability for managing as well as logistics operations (Wamba and Queiroz 2020). It
has a huge amount of its sales and availability of the patients. In this particular essay, how the
Cambridge University Hospital resolves the issues with the help of Logistics and Supply Chain
Management. It may improve patient satisfaction rates.
Cambridge University Hospital is one of the largest hospitals and most of the NHS trusts

The importance of quality is quality management in healthcare services is totally
dependent on the reputation of the hospital. Lack of quality in healthcare services may decrease
the popularity of the hospital (Sharma 2020). Due to the lack of quality and medical negligence,
it may happen that lots of patients will have died. Managing quality can be the only way to

resolve these issues of healthcare. As investigated by the World Health Organisation in 2016,
lack of health care workers in the hospitals are the main reason for degrading the quality of the
hospital. They mentioned that the doctor and patient ratio in the hospitals of Uganda was
1:22,000. It is quite an alarming condition for the healthcare sector in the entire globe. That is
why healthcare sectors are facing some serious challenges for providing quality services to their
patients. The evaluation of quality health care is performed with the help of Bandura’s social
learning and social cognitive theories. But, every consumer has different experiences regarding
the quality of services (Rivera and Zapata 2020). For the organisations like Cambridge
University Hospital in the United Kingdom, they need to provide proper assurance regarding the
services they are providing. They also need to ensure that, the services are provided by the
organisation are meeting the quality as per the expectation of the consumer.
In the people management, the Cambridge University Hospital needs to improve a lot.
This helps to improve their services. If they have the ability to manage the workforce efficiently,
then it is possible for them to provide quality healthcare services. Then, it will be easier for them

manner. It is very important for every hospital to provide importance to people management.

sustainability of the hospital (Pham, Darabi and Wilmot 2020). It helps to improve the services
as well as it helps to meet the increasing demand for the private as well as NHS hospitals in the
United Kingdom. Cambridge University Hospital is situated at Cambridge in England. It is a
very expensive as well as highly populated area. According to the United States Bureau of
Labour Statistics, a healthcare manager is responsible to provide patient services and healthcare
facilities. It is not possible if the manager does not have any sound knowledge regarding the
management of the people. As there is a huge demand for health care services, so there is a huge
importance of a person who can keep a daily track of the services in an efficient manner.
According to the University of Cambridge, this hospital is facing some operational
pressure due to the financial crisis occurred in 2008. Other NHS hospitals are also facing similar
issues. As well as this, they are not being able to provide some basic issues which may be very
significant in the healthcare industry. It can be easily resolved by adopting transparency in
operational services. The main issue in operational management faced by this hospital is the
maintenance as well as repairing of the building (Navarro et al. 2020). As per the report provided
by NHS Digital, dollar 12.2 is classified as a high risk for the repairing. It must be highlighted as
the highest priority by the hospital authority. It will help them to prevent catastrophic failure. It
gives a serious disruption in the clinical services. These are liable for serious injury or
prosecution. Data records of the NHS trust highlight forty-nine incident details of the patients. It
results in infrastructural problems (Nargundkar and Kulkarni 2020). If the hospital authority can
invest in the amount of money for the repair as well as maintenance of the buildings then it will
provide a better atmosphere to the patients.
