The functions that are carried out by the central control include the planning of thesupply chain. Along with the planning, the other activities and functions that need to be carriedout centrally include strategic, technical and operational management, the delivery of the finalproducts (Christopher 2016). These functions taken up centrally, results in efficient supply chainmanagement. B. The functions that are locally carried out include the procurement of the raw materials. Thisneeds to be done locally in order to ensure the raw materials reach the company fresh. The returnof the products also needs to be carried locally (Solyal et al. 2016). This will ensure that theproducts returned by the customers are returned to the local stores and replaced with newproducts. The choice of the suppliers, the inbound logistics as well as the outbound logistics haveto be carried out local, to avoid delay in the supply chain.

2LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENTQuestion 2The five items that needs to be learned, in order to ensure successful management ofinventories are as follows:1. Forecasting of the demand and supply: This is important in order to determine the forecast ofthe demand among the customers and ensure the supply2. Monitoring the supply of the inventory management: The supply of the inventories needs to bemonitored in order to ensure efficient inventory management. 3. Controlling unwanted delay in the supply chain: The unwanted delay in the supply chain needsto be controlled and monitored (Lu and Swaminathan, 2015).4. Transferring inventory: The transferring of the inventory needs to be carried out effectively. 5. Tracking the inbound and outbound logistics: The inbound and out bound logistics have to betracked and monitored, in order to ensure successful inventory management.
