“Investigating different ways to improve traffic and how a new depot would improve
DSV in the UK”.
Background
DSV is a Danish transport and logistic organisation that offer transport services
worldwide by air, train and road. It was founded in 1976 by Jens Bjorn Andersen, Kyrt K. Larsen
and headquartered in Hedehusene, Denmark. Company mainly specialise in offering of different
services namely road transport, freight forwarding, contract logistics etc. a In order to maximise
sales and revenues, company decide to develop a new deport within the United Kingdom (Abreu
and et. al., 2015). Along with this, an organisation analysis different ways through which they
can easily enhance traffic and achieve better outcomes within predetermined time period. This
proposal will going to discuss about the ways that are used by logistic organisations to improve
traffic within UK.
Rational of the research: Main reason behind conducting this research is to investigate
various ways to improve traffic and analysis the potential risk faced by company when they
starting up a new deport. Therefore research topic is more large and for this researcher need
maximum time and cost. Apart from this, creation of new deport is essential and beneficial for
future growth and success of company. For accomplishment of this, an organisation should try
to provide speedy transport services worldwide.
Significance of the Research: The considered research is based on the different ways to
improve traffic and how a new depot would improve DSV in the UK. This is a wide area of
research that helps the investigator in determining the overall study in appropriate manner by
accumulation of data and information (Aitamurto and Landemore, 2015). The present study
helps an individual or learner in enhancing their knowledge base in the area of the ways for
improving traffic and how it may affect the performance of DSV within UK. Traffic
improvement is the social issue and it is essential for each individual to have potential
knowledge base in regards to the area of traffic or different ways to improve them. The specified
area of research is effective for the people who are having their career in the logistic department.

Preliminary literature review
A literature review is identified as an essential evaluating report of data found in
literature related to selected area of study. It should provide theoretical base for an investigation
and also support the author to determine the nature of their research (Apfelstädt and Gather,
2016). In this section of the research has has been accumulated by secondary source like books,
journals, published articles etc.

According to the Navarro and et. al., (2016), there are different ways through which
Danish transport and logistic company can easily enhance their traffic easily. Some ways are
determined as under:

used by the DSV in order to enhance their traffic systematically. For this company provide
information to their customers about the entire booking. This information mainly related with the

 Actively Follow and Monitor the Planned Shipments (PODCON): This is identify as
weakest area of company. For this business require to become more proactive and take
accurate control of the shipments.
Depot is a place for the storage of large quantities of equipment, food, or goods. New
Depot is a requirement for logistic company thus DSV or its management has taken the decision
to implement a new depot in respect to reducing traffic. The selection of the place for new Depot

its transportation facility to easily make available the facility to the firm or its operations. Thus

DSV is a leading logistic company which is widely concern on satisfying the needs and
wants of clients and customers in respect to sustaining an effective position within the market
place. DSV wants and need to create a new deport within the United Kingdom. With the help of
this company can easily enhance OTIF of Starfleet depot. There are some benefits of developing
new deport for an organisation such as maximise customer service of Starfleet depot, potential to
extent the postcode regions, potential to gain new clients etc. Another reason of company about
developing new depot is to decrease daily consignments number that will allow maximum time
to emphasis on efficiency and effectiveness of the planning.
Importance of New Depot for DSV.
According to the Ravantti, Hede, (2013), development of new deport is beneficial for the
DSV because it enhance lead tomes for company within the UK. It is also essential and
beneficial for an organisation to enhance customer satisfaction level, this is because the deport
allow maximum time period to emphasis on customer services. Creation of new depot is also
beneficial and significant for the company to expand their business operation at different level as
well as retain strong sustainability. Thus, new deport essential and more beneficial for the growth

method which are used by the researcher for the purpose of collecting data and addressing all
research questions and each of their objectives. Some important and relevant methods
determined as under:
Research design: The entire activity of research is mainly depend on research design
which is created by an investigator for investigating the impact. Research design is mainly
divided into three section namely descriptive, exploratory and experimental. As per the research
topic, descriptive design is more fit because in this conclusion can be derived in an effective and
accurate manner (De Jong and Bliemer, 2015). This tool is effective because it is most suitable
methodology for qualitative research and helps in providing detailed analysis by the support of
theories and hypothesis on the specified area of study.
Research Philosophy: It is another important method of research methodology which is
applied by an investigator to accumulate accurate amount of data from carry out the investigation
work in right direction. This section basically classified into two parts namely interpretivism and
positivism. For this research topic, interpretivism philosophy is more suitable because it help an
investigator to evaluate information effectively. On the other hand positivism philosophy is not
appropriate according to the topic because it will not support researcher to carry out each and
every activity of research in proper manner. In the present investigation work interpritivisim
philosophy has been applied by the researcher in respect to providing data through the
perspective of various authors and writers.

method such as primary and secondary source of information. In case of primary method,
questionnaires is more suitable which is prepared by an investigator to collect proper information
from the respondents (Hepler and Gupta, 2017). On the other side, use of secondary method,
different number of journals, books, publication research, magazines are available for the
researcher to gather information about the topic to the respondents. Both source of data are
useful but according to the topic primary method is more fit and with the use of this , investigator
can prepare a questionnaires.

 Questionnaires: It is identify as a research instrument consisting of different number of
questions for the motive of collecting data from respondents. This instrument is essential
and beneficial for the researcher because it is relatively easy for them to analysis accurate
response of participants.
Sampling: For selecting sample size from the large number of population there are
basically two type of sampling method such as probabilistic and non probabilistic (Li and et. al.,
2015). According to research or topic, non-probability and in which convenience sampling
method used. It is more effective and suitable and includes entire subjects that are present and
makes the sample an accurate representation of the whole population. For this research selected
sample size of 40 respondents through convenience sampling method.
Data analysis: This part of the research methodology will be completed with the
application of thematic evaluation. In this case, investigator need to made different number of
themes which will more significant and useful for them to execute research activities effectively
(Li and et. al., 2015). The themes or pattern will be made each questions as this will highly help
the scholar in evaluating the response of participants easily or minutely.
Limitation: At the time of executing research, different number of limitation are
witnessed. One of the major limitation faced by researcher is time period because topic is vast
for getting response of participants. Therefore, time is not maximum for the each and every
activity of research.
Ethical consideration: It can be specified and identified as one of the essential section of
research. There are different points that represent the essential principles about the ethical
consideration in research (MacQueen and Bradford, 2015).
 Respect for the dignity of research involver's should be prioritised.
 Participants of research should not be subjected to harm or hurt in any ways whatsoever.
 Adequate and proper level of confidentiality of the investigation information should be
ensured.

There are mainly two types of resources which is used by the DSV such as travel cost
and fund. Bot are main and essential resources for an organisation and effects on its activities
and performance in a direct manner (Narayanaswami, 2017). Travelling cost is more useful for
