ASSESSMENT TASK
This assessment task comprises of two sections.
In the first section, develop a project scope plan for your project of choice. In the second section, answer
a series of questions, referring to your project, regarding project execution and evaluation.
SECTION 1 - PROJECT SCOPE PLAN
1.Scope Management Approach
Procedure for project authorization are developed
The steps are elaborated below:
• Propose the project: This particular activity generally involves proper determination as well as
description of the project goals, deliverables, benefits as well as impact of the project (Derenskaya,
2018). It further helps in developing proper proposal-based request that is mainly submitted to the
sponsor.
• Revise the project: In this activity, the proposed project is reviewed by effectively analyzing the
cost effectiveness as well as feasibility of the project.
• Approve/reject: In the last step, proposal request is generated and submitted to the project
development team and such response either accepts or rejects the project (Amjad et al., 2017).
Authorization for expending resources
It is found that a delegate generally authorizes a position that is present under the supervision for proper

It is found that the project delegation authorities are provided to project planner from project managers so
that they can be able to make decisions related with the project till the successful project completion (Rais
and Sheoran, 2015). It is considered as a way of giving the subordinates proper room as well as space so
that they can use their abilities to flourish.

Statement of Work (SOW)
The statement of work helps in documenting as well as capturing all the different aspects that are
generally needed for the construction of the bridge. The various deliverables of the project including
project plan, project charter, financial report as well as scope statement.

• Lack of experienced as well as skilled can be one of the constraints as they are unable to handle
the challenges properly and they do not have experience of managing such issues and thus the
construction work can get delayed.
5.Scope Management Procedures and Processes
Authority of scope management
Project manager generally has the authority as well as responsibility of managing the scope of bridge
construction project.
Measurement and verification of scope
The scope of the project will be verified by using steps that are elaborated below:
• Quality checklist: Quality checklist is mainly used in order to make sure that proper quality of the
project is maintained that further helps in verifying the progress of project (Lampa et al., 2017).

compare the work that is performed and the work that is estimated to be completed for analyzing
the work performance and for ensuring that the project is following scope.
Scope change process
The changes in the scope was initiated by the stakeholders and for which proper authorization from
project manager is required.
Accepting final project deliverable and approval of project scope
The client is responsible for accepting the final project deliverable and also helps provides approval for
the project scope acceptance quite effectively.
Change control system
It is found that a change control system is one of the systems that is mainly implemented for serving the
important purpose in order to assure that the entire procedure of making changes are generally done
quite arbitrarily but is generally considered as well as properly signed off by a responsible party.
6.Impact Statement
It is found that the suppliers will be affected by undertaking the bridge construction project as they will
generally get the opportunity of delivering materials that will be quite profitable for them (Takey and
Carvalho, 2015). In addition to this, it is found that the business process like receiving orders as well as
employee information can also get impacted but negatively as these processes are not done during the
progress of the project.

SECTION 2 – PROJECT SCOPE EXECUTION AND EVALUATION
Making appropriate reference to your project scope plan, address each section covering all
points.
Discuss what you would do if the following happened at execution phase:
1. You receive a major change in your project from your client, the budget will be cut by 20%.
Considering your project scope plan, discuss (ALL points MUST be discussed)
a) How the request for the change was submitted and evaluated.
The request for the change was submitted as well as evaluated by using steps that are elaborated
below:
- Forming a team: In the initial step, proper team is formed that include people who are generally
affected from the changes as well as responsible for undertaking the change in construction project
(Kaiser et al., 2015).
- Collecting relevant data: In the second step, data related with the workplace needs to be collected
in order to have proper knowledge about the project.
- Analyzing data: In the third step, different types of data are analyzed for determining if the changes

b) How you would implement the change.
The change will implement by following steps that are mainly elaborated below:
- In the first step, proper preparation for the change is made by finding the opportunities and
challenges that can emerge from the change
- In second step, proper explanation about the change is done by proper evaluating the benefits and
opportunities (Derenskaya et al., 2018).
- In the third step, loss that will occur due to the change needs to be properly acknowledged
effectively.
- Building the change plan and then launching it by making constant adjustment on ongoing
improvements.
a) What other changes will be necessary to maintain project objectives based on your
assessment of the change impact on project.
- It is necessary to change the duration of the construction project for meeting the objectives as
with the changed requirements. It is found that if the duration for the project is changed then the
project can be managed within the 20% less budget.
2. Choose one of your project deliverables and one of the requirements associated with that
deliverable.
a) Indicate what deliverable and the requirement that you have chosen to discuss this
scenario:
It is found that blueprint report for the bridge construction is considered as a deliverable and
proper design of the bridge is considered as the requirement that is mainly selected for the
project (Rais and Sheoran 2015).
b) A project team member changes that requirement without following the scope change
process.
I. Describe what impact/consequences the undocumented change has on the
project.
It is found that as the project manager changes the requirement of project design without
following proper procedures then the problem of scope creep occurs as per the which it will
disrupt the entire strategy of the project as it generally requires additional time, cost as well as
resources which are not accounted in the initial step of the project.
II. Discuss how you would address the issue once you find out what happened?
The issues that occur will be addressed with the help of risk management plan so that the
problems associated with scope creep can be handled effectively and the various problems
associated with scope creep including budget shortfall well as slippage of schedule also gets
managed.

a) How would you identify and document scope management issues and recommend
improvements for future projects?
• 1st step: Analysis: Proper analysis must be done in order to determine the issues that occur due
to improper management of project scope.
• 2nd step: Identification: After analysis, the issues must be determined as well as prioritized quite
successfully within the project (Kaiser et al., 2015).
• 3rd step: Documentation: Proper documentation in the form of report is done in order to determine
proper ways with the help of which issues can be resolved.
For future projects, it is necessary to use proper paper work in order to change the scope of the project so
that the project manager can be able to analyze it’s both positive and negative impact and after analyzing
can provide permission so that the changes does not create much impact on the project progress.
b) Consider that you have now completed your project and you are preparing your
project review report.
Write an evaluation report on the scope plan (to include lesson learned and
recommendations for future projects) addressed to your client. (Minimum 100 words)
It is learned that scope of the project must be changed without proper documentation as that will create
scope creep which will further increase the budget and time of the project. In order to effectively manage
the project scope, proper procedure off documentation must be followed and the changes must be
implemented after getting approval.
