Introduction
It is essential for every company to make strategies and plans according to their main
objectives and analyse their internal and external business environment to mitigate the risk
(Bolton and et. al., 2018). This will help the company to analyse where they are lacking behind
to achieve competitive advantage. Fairfield School of Business (FSB) is located in Digbeth,
Birmingham. It provides multicultural learning to their students and has various kinds of courses.
They mainly focus on vocational education for those students who want to become entrepreneur.
On the other hand, London School of Science and Technology (LSST) have four campuses, three
in London and one in Birmingham. They provide various courses like management, IT,
computing, health and social care and many others. There are nearly 4000 students studying in
this college. The following report will mention the issue faced by LSST and FSB and the main
client is HR officer which will analyse the issue well and provide suggestions to m mitigate
them. The following report covers identification of client and their issues which they face. This
report also covers competitor’s analysis, target customer analysis and external business analysis
to break down the issues. At the end this report will ends up with analysing top three issues faced
by both colleges and different ways to mitigate them.
Main Body
Clarify who your client is, and what is the problem they are facing
In context of LSST, their client which can identify the problem in university and help
authority to focus on the problem and make strategies to mitigate is an HR Officer which has the
responsibility to sort out the issues of college well and make some corrective measures. This HR
Officer is responsible to analyse the skills and talents of staff and help the organisation to tell
whether their existing staff is effective to teach new admissions well or not. HR Officer further
has the responsibility to analyse their available resources and condition of colleges like
infrastructure, Chemistry labs, Physics labs and many others so that they will further help the
senior authority to analyse their internal issues to make it resolve for organisational benefit
(Nguyen and et. al., 2020).
In context of FSB, their client is from marketing department and has the responsibility to
conduct marketing research for FSB to research and collect data to advice the senior
management of the college on adopting and developing professional qualifications that

competitors do not offer. They are also required to analyse what all requirements FSB will need
to adopt new courses in their colleges like ACCA and CIMA. For this they are required to
analyse their competitor’s courses and make sure that they will bring those courses which their
competitors will not offer so that students will get attracted toward their college only to get
admission in new courses. They are also responsible for making strategies for FSB to grow
market awareness and increase students application for the college.
Breaking down the problem
The following issue get break down and client of FSB and LSST get to understand the issue
clearly by using few of the marketing models.
Porter five forces- This model is used to analyse how much competition a firm is having
in their representing industry. There are five elements in this model which are mentioned below-
Threat of new entrants- It consist of threat related to new entered colleges in the market
upon FSB and LSST colleges. In context of UK, if a college want to enter their educational
industry then they are required to develop high technological factors hiring skilled staff
members. FSB and LSST are well developed colleges and there are around 4000 students
studying in LSST. FSB is having various kinds of courses and practical for promoting their
students to become entrepreneur. Hence, new entered colleges cannot impact much upon these
colleges.
Bargaining power of suppliers- In context of LSST and FSB, furniture companies
which provide them furniture for their schools. Companies who provide them technological tools
and machines are other important suppliers (Bruijl, 2018). Both the colleges try to have more
than one supplier so that in case there any supplier refuse to provide them their products then
they will quickly switch to another supplier.
Bargaining power of customers- Customers of LSST and FSB College are their
students. In context of UK, there are various kinds of schools and colleges which attract students
on the basis of their courses and learning style. Hence, the colleges are having high power of
customer’s bargaining because their students have option to apply for another college. Hence, it
is suggested to both the colleges that they must promote their facilities, courses, learning styles
effectively to gain more application of admissions.
Threat of substitute goods- Substitute goods are those goods which are used in place of
each other because of their common functions and characteristics (Pervan, Curak and Pavic

Kramaric, 2018). UK is having various colleges which can copy the learning styles, logo and
functions of LSST and FSB colleges. Hence, it is suggested for them to use trademark and
copyright legal facilities so that no other college will copy their logo. On the other hand, it is also
suggested to them that they will continuously change their learning styles so that their
competitors will not copy them.
Competitive rivalry- There is various competitors of LSST and FSB in UK like London
Business School, Warwick Business School and many others. Both the schools can gain
competitive advantage in market by comparing their performance with their competitor’s
performance to analyse which where they are lacking behind to attract more students to their
college. In context of LSST they are required to develop high technology and infrastructure of
the college well so that they will attract more students for admissions. On the other hand, FSB is
a business school hence they are required to promote that learning style which helps their
students to gain innovative ideas and concepts of becoming a popular entrepreneur.
STP model- This model is used to analyse about main customers of a company or institute. In
context of LSST and FSB their STP model is mentioned below-

PEST analysis- This model is used to analyse external business factors which impact
upon a company’s growth.
Political factors- In context of UK they are having easy trading facilities. Hence, FSB
and LSST College have benefitted to attract international students for their colleges admissions.
Brexit is the situation where UK separated from European Union. Due to Brexit most of the
students from European Unions have to drop out and cancel their admission process in UK. The
total number of admissions get decline due to the Brexit situation.
Economical factor- UK is having high employment rate which help both the colleges to
hire qualified and experienced teachers for teaching (Alava and et. al., 2018). Due to Brexit the
GDP of UK gets impacted due to withdrawal if investment of various European companies from
UK’s economy. Secondly, due to covid pandemic, most of the schools conduct their teaching
activities through online mode which did not help students to learn practical subjects
appropriately.

growth of organisation. In context of LSST, they adopted advanced software and computers for
better practical learning of their students. Remote learning also helps students to continue learn

2 Hiring qualified
teachers for new
courses.
Here, college must test candidate’s theoretical knowledge as
well as practical knowledge for teaching students (Lundan,
