Lust caution is a famous film based on a historical drama by Ang lee who have won
several award at the various types of film festival such as golden lion award. Basically, this film
is based upon historical event of Chinese spy named as Zheng Pingru. This film explicit the
sensual scenes based on events that took place during occupation of shanghai regards to Japanese
events.
Story
The story tells that during world war 2, a university student who was very shy and
inexperienced named as Wong chia chi, travels from shanghai to Hong Kong in order to attend
event at its university names as lingnan university. Kaung yu min was a male student who invites
chia chi to join club and motivate her to become lead actress Lee, & Chang,(2020). Later she
inspires others by her mesmerizing acting and patriotic plays. Mr. yee , a special agent who was
a secret agent who works in shanghai for the Japanese puppet government. Chia chi is chosen for
the best role of Mrs. Mai who is beautiful and attractive wife of a leading trading organisation
owner. She is very smart because she managers to fit herself into the big social /friend’s circle of
Mrs. Yee to complete her aim. The major aim of her is to kill that man as per the agreement with
government but she was unaware that this would be life changing step for her as she started
falling in love with him.
Sexuality and power
In order to prove herself in this lust caution film, chia chi’s virginity is used as a great
example of both innocency and a barrier to the role she must play in the film. The great message
shared by this film is sexuality and power as it is used as tangible tools in order to prove
patriotism Hao, (2021). In her character it has been noted that she is very comfortable with her
role, body language, her appearance makes her more attractive and power as it is totally related
to her desires and love for that man. We have seen that a gradual acceptance of power and
pleasure along with a growing role of dominance in Mr. yee and Chia chi relationship is the most
interesting part.
Popularity and Home media
In the recent years, this film has achieved so much of success especially in the US, two
DVD versions were released for which people were praising the role of lady chia chi and her
appearance with Mr. Yee in the film. The name of two DVD were censored R rated version and
NC-17 version which was popular among people Iyer, (2019). It has been noted that many

authors have praised this movie and also have written about it in their blogs. There are many
production company in the world who have released this movie such as Netflix where people can
stream service and watch films online. Mostly people can see it on Vudu movie and various film
app on TV store. This film shows the importance of political power while understanding
brutality and love. It has been noted that this film has provided benefit to most of the production
company because they have released this on their platform. In the US, this film has earned more
than 24 million which is quite good earning and in the US people have rated NC-17 which was
budget over more than $16 million
