INTRODUCTION
Global events are considered as the events which are organized
and conducted on an international basis. Case studies shoes and
here is the FIFA world cup held in 2010. It is hosted by South Africa
with 32 teams from different countries. Championship winner was
the Spain national football team. The following discussion is based
on the macro environmental factors of the FIFA world cup and its
impact on global events industries. Discussions are also made on
the positive and negative impact and its influences on decision
making and organizational behavior. SWOT analysis and the
successful planning of events are also discussed along with the
conclusion and recommendations for improvements to minimize
the adverse impact and maximize profits.

economical, social, technological, legal and environmental factors.
 Political factors affected the 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa are the
government regulations and deregulations and size of government

 Economic factors affected are financial market structure and foreign
exchange rate.
 Social factors affected are attitude towards health and safety and
attitude towards immigrants.

 Therefore there is the positive influence on the event of

context of the external business environment (Crescenzi

 There are several positive impacts of global events
on the macro environment.
 The Economic factor of the macro environment
benefits in large due to the global events. This is
because it helps the nation in increasing tourism
which ultimately increases the national income of
the economy. It also affects the gross domestic
product in a positive manner.
 Social factors are also giving a positive impact
because of the large networking among different
cultures and countries.

Positive impact discussed above has also

 There are several negative impacts of
global events on the macro environment.
 Environmental factors have largely
impacted because of the increment of
carbon footprints and increment and
pollution.
 Technological factors are also impacted
negatively due to the issue of data
safety and security of the entire event.

The negative impact discussed above has
also negativity on the decision making and
organizational behavior. The reason being

data security affects the decision making in
organizational structure in a negative
manner (Jackson, 2019).

IMPACTS AND MAXIMISE PROFIT

In order to improve the management of global events so
that there could be the minimizing of adverse impact
and result in the maximize profits, and then it is
recommended to the event hosting country or
organization to focus on all the opportunities given by
the external factors of the country. It is also suggested
to target the threats as well so that it can turn into the
strength of the event. Social and technological factors
are the important external factors which require
attention for improvement in order to minimize the
negative impacts and maximize the positive impacts
which ultimately result in the maximization of profit.

 There are various trends and weaknesses along with the
opportunities and threats of the 2010 FIFA world cup in South
Africa.
 Strength includes that it is one of the famous and international
events held which is attended by maximum people.
 Weaknesses include lack of financial resources and improper
infrastructure.
 Opportunities include the usage of advanced technology in
order to implement the event in a more attractive manner.
 Threats include that the government of South Africa is
responsible for hosting the event and they are lacking in event

strategy and key tactic to the successful planning of
events.
 Effective and efficient promotion of the event is also
significant.

It is concluded that the 2010 FIFA world cup was one

South Africa. It has not only affected the internal

impacted in a both manner that is positively and
