This company was founded in 1838 and headquarter is in Australia , New Zealand.There are more than 7200 employeeswho were working inthis company science 2014 and this company has 47 location (Gandolfi and Stone., 2018).David Jones was founded by the David Jones, Welsh Merchant and the future politician, after he emigrated to the Australia, and is the oldestcontinuouslyoperatingstorein the worldand it is stilltrading undertheiroriginal name.David Jones Limited company ismaking the revenue around 2.2 Australian dollar and their operating income is around 170 billion. The main competitor of this companyis larger, upmarketdepartmentalstorechain, who are giving them a competition in the retail market. In year 1980 A company name with Adelaide Steamship company acquired a substantial interest on the David Jones, culminatingin the complete takeover.The recession in the 4190 caused this company assets to be floated asDavid Jones Limited for the next two decades and in 2014they werefinally overtake by theSouth AfricanRetailgroup. In 2019Woolworth sold their company Iconic which also a big brand and announced the relocation of the David Jones head quarter office to the Victoria.
ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION Leadership in David Jones Limited Organizational behavior is directly concerned with the understanding, prediction, and control of human behavior in organizations. Organizational behavior is the study of both group and individual performance and activity within an organization. While leadershipissues are issueswhicharecreatedbythecompaniesleadersandmangerswhichcanaffectthe performance of the company and the employees who are working for the company (Western., 2019). David Jones Limited is facing leadership issuesin their companywhich is affecting performance of the company, and they are getting pressure from the other companies. Leaders of the David Jones Limited is having lack of leadership skillsand knowledgeof thelectureship theories, so they are not able to control the different different situation at the workplace of the David Jones Limited.It is important for thecompany toimplement change managementat their workplaceand ideas of the company should use appropriateleadership style which can help themto lead the employees properly, and they can able to control the different different situation at the workplace of David Jones Limited. It is necessary for the leaders of the David Jones Limited to develop theskills which are needed tolead employees, so they canbe motivated and give their bestin thetasks and help company to achieve successin their business, so they can show their presence in the market where they are operating their business. Issues in leadership Lack of knowledge and skillsare creating some issuesfor the employees and performance of the company and some of them are - Failureto communicate- Leaders of theDavid Jones Limited are not able to communicate properly with the employeesandit is necessary for the leadersto provideclear andproper information to the employees related to thei9r work (Robertson., 2016). In this leadership style leaders of the company make decision based on the input of each team members Al through he or she makes the final call, each employee has an equal say on the project direction.This leadershipallow thelower levelworkerstakeparticipation in the decision making process andleaders also give higher responsibilities to them, so they can give their best andholed the higher positionsin the future.Coach style leadership-This leadership style is similar to thesport's coach, in this leadership styleleadersgive work to their team as per their straightandmake the strategiestoachieve success in their work. A leaders and mangersof this leadershipstyle mayhelp their employees to improve their strengthbygiving themthedifferent taskwhere they cangain newskills. Employees get
proper guidance and leaders give them feedback for the improvement and tell their mistake so next time they can improve more. It is because many peoplecreate resistancein change. In thisstage companies superiorshave togiveclearly andideathatwhy company need the change in their leadership so they can understand the importance and give their support to the company for the change management (Anderson and Sun., 2017).Communication is the best option in this stage where superiors of the company communicate face to face with the workers of the company and make them u8ndeersant what are the benefits of the change in leadership of theDavid Jones company, andthey have to give them motivation and assurance to the employees.Changing-Another stage is changingwhere change become real. It will not onlysolvethis issues but leader will also able to create good understanding with the employees and workers can perform better in their task. Time management Times management is necessary for theleaders becauseit also can reflect in the team who are working under them. If the leaderwillcome on the times anddo their task on the times then it will motivate their other employees to do the same. Confidence It is necessary for theleaderofDavid Jones company tohave enoughconfidences because ifthey will beconfidentin frontof their team thenit will m motivate their employees as well, and they will give their best in the task and help leader to achieve their task goals which will improve the performance of the company and they will able to provide quality product to their customers and services as well (Hidayat, Hariyati and Muhaeriwati., 2020). Build trust among team trust among the employees can be build if leaders of theDavid Jones companywill be concern about the problems whichare faced by the employees under them.Leaders should listen to the lower level as wellso trust can be build.
