INTRODUCTION
Art is a major vehicle of social change. This essay revolves around establishing art as a
vehicle associated with social change. It focuses on events that that took place in 1960s as well
as 1970s. In addition to that, it also reflects how art was used to empower women. This report
provides analysis on how successful this methodology was and how it affected the social status
of women during that time. This analysis focuses on both positive as well as negative impacts
associated with how art-initiated women empowerment during 1960s and 1970s.
MAIN BODY
The Feminist art movement was started in the year 1960. This feminist movement was associated
with anti war demonstrations as well as civil and queer rights movement. In different type of
human events, women are known to be more superior than men. At the initial years, women are
not treated equal as men. There is high contribution of feminism art in helping women to
overcome the conditions they were living 1. There were many talented women artist who are
banded together at the year 1960 and 1970. This helped talented women to accept societal
behaviour. There were several artists like Judy Chicago, Guerrilla and Barbara Kruger who
contributed a lot on feminism. According to the scenario of feminist movement, women are
involved in managing gender issues that were faced by women 2. The Feminist art movement
was started for managing the experience of women which was expressed in the form of art. A
revolution took place in US for analysing the Feminist art. This became an universal revolution
which consists of women experience and in addition for men’s strength. The feminists artists
took oath for discovering the impossibility of changing society. In an essay of Linda Nochlin, it
was written that females are great artists. There are few awareness of female artists than the Art
movement.
A movement came into existence which included the question for pinpointing awareness as well
as questions that are associated with discrimination. In the year, 1971, Judy Chicago stated that
feminist art act was one of the prominent movement that depended upon the managing point of
