Rural and Urban Tourism Development in Malaysia

This report discusses the development of rural and urban tourism in Malaysia, including initiatives towards sustainable tourism. Urban tourism in Malaysia contributes significantly to the country's economy, with major facilities located in cities. INTRODUCTION
Tourism industry is one of the leading industrial sectors that promote country growth and
development and provide them opportunity to conserve their resources with the help of practice like
sustainable tourism. Present report has been conducted on discussion of urban and rural tourism
development in Malaysia.

RURAL TOURISM IN MALAYSIA
 Rural tourism is mainly defined as movement of individual from their normal places of residence to
rural areas.
 It is one of the most efficient development strategies for the rural areas which is also included in The
Rural Tourism Master Plan (RTMP) in which government will conduct:
 The attractive scenery of lush tropical landscape
 Presenting activities and amenities to participate in, and enjoy in safety
 Providing new and improved ranges of accommodation
 Offer a smiling and friendly customer care approach

URBAN TOURISM IN MALAYSIA
Urban tourism of Malaysia significantly contributed in the country economy in number of ways. Urban tourism is
defined as a tourism within towns and cities. There are number of cities in Malaysia in which number of major
facilities such as event infrastructure, transport, hotel is located through which this country attracts individuals
around the globe. Malaysia is located in Southeast Asia and basically consists of 11 States as well as three
Federal territory.

Sustainable Tourism concept in Malaysia has been duly started with the Malaysia plan since 1970. It basically includes both short
