TASK 1
Identifying Issues that company are experiencing with its productivity in relation to selection,
recruitment and on-boarding process
By referring to the case study, it has been identified that there are some existing in the
company, which enable it to felt negative experience with their productivity in relation to
selection, recruitment & on boarding processes. Three major issues that identified from the
study mention below;
Poorly Trained Staff – It is one of those issues that FarmBox has experienced and impact
its business productivity in negative manner. As soon as the newly recruited employees got their
task, the productivity of the company declined. The major cause behind this problem is lack of
proper training to the staff. The management failed to provide clear guidance and information
regarding the operations. This led the staff working in their desired way instead of firm’s
guidelines. Problem arises when HR fails to monitor the understanding ability of their hired
personnel. Officials in FarmBox may explain and acknowledge each worker individually before
assigning them the project.
Employee Retention – The next issue that company and its management experiencing and
facing is retention of employees. By referring to case study, it has been determined that many
workers are looking to leave, which in return increase high employee turnover in firm. The main
cause of this problem may be a negative work environment and the lack of understanding about
operations. It may determine that employed personnel were made to do more work than their
contracted time, which also forms a major reason. It directly impacts other workforce of
FarmBox when it fails to retain newly hired staff.
Issues related to increase productivity– It implies the theory of less determination by
employees towards achieving organizational goals. By referring to the case study the derivation
of less productivity amongst newly recruited staff is seen. The efficiency in tasks before hiring
process of these workers was effective. It declined due to lack of concentration from personnel to
maintain the firm’s operations. It proved to be a major reason as there were customer’s
complaints for the first time since its opening. Another reason behind this cause is lack of
monitoring the work process of its workforce by management.

As stated above, organization experience these three major issues, which directly
impacting its productivity, sales and consumer satisfaction in negative manner. Just because of
inappropriate recruitment, Human resource manager may hire wrong people who are unable to
perform effectively, which decrease operational productivity of company.

recruitment & selection models for conducting an onboarding process. These are the major
selection concepts implicated by the management in this procedure.
Michigan Model – Known as the Best fit approach to human resource management,
this model of recruitment focuses on hard level of HRM, recruitment and selection, performance
monitoring and rewards (Alrawi, and et.al. 2018).
Human Capital Theory – This theory of recruitment focuses on the intangible economic
value of a worker's experience and skills. Factors like education, training and skills are the
attributes to this selection model (Hauff, and et.al., 2021).
AMO Theory – This theory of selection refers to three major independent work
components in a employee which may contribute in firm’s success. Those three components are
ability, motivation and opportunity.
Explaining the role of HRM theories in affecting the Staff Behavior at FarmBox
The use of Michigan model in the firm focuses on four major aspects.
Hard level of HRM
Recruitment and Selection
Performance monitoring
Rewards
The first step followed is recruitment and selection of appropriate employees meeting the
job profile by the onboarding team. By referring to the case study, the hiring medium used by
FarmBox was a digital Interview conducted online. The candidates got selected from a 20minute
