Assessment Task:
SCENARIO – PROJECT PLAN
This assessment involves a scenario of drafting a project plan for your workplace. A
manager has come to you and asked you to be part of a project planning team for the
development of a new interstate site, where no services are currently provided.
You are to answer all the questions and upload the file by the due date. The format of
your submission is to follow these requirements:
Using the VUC document, Assessment Template 6.docx, saving and upload final
version to VUC saved as Assessment 6_[your name].docx

As an individual submission, but you should show your draft to your manager for
feedback prior to uploading to VUC, noting that this is not a real task, but a
scenario assessment.
Answers are to be typed below the questions, adding rows if required.
1. LOCATION – which city and suburb should the new operation’s site be based in and why?
=> The city chosen is Melbourne, Victoria and the suburb for the site is situated in Dandenong.
The prime reason behind choosing this is due to the public transport accessibility it offers that
involves interlinking modes via tripling of the Dandenong line. Alongside, the freight
transportation services are also properly connected from the other industrial areas, airport and
the port at Melbourne.
2. SERVICES – what services should be provided from this site and why? e.g. all current
services or only selected ones?
=> Arthur L Pty Ltd company is the leading Logistics service provider; thus, they are going to
provide the following all current services such as quarantine services, machinery relocation
and heavy haulage services, warehouse and distribution services and container services. This
is mainly due to the strategic planning to gain competitive advantages over the rival
companies working in this sector.
3. RESOURCES – what resources should be developed in the following categories?
Office – desks
- Meeting rooms
Desks, chairs, computers, Meeting Rooms, stationeries
Yard – sqm, facilities 40000 sqm warehousing and 12000 sqm for container yard with
approximately 16000 sqm open storage area.
Equipment – fixed
- mobile
Facilities included 1-6 tons vehicles, Customized courier
packages, proper storage cupboards and areas with specialized
logistics.
Staff

supervisors Yard specialist, mechanics, warehousing site staff for keeping a
check on the loading and unloading materials and a group of
professional drivers who are able to use all types of equipment

also provide the deal or project would be a feasible option.

4. CRITICAL GAP – what do you think is the most important gap or deficiency in resourcing this
project? What actions do you recommend to address this gap?
=> The most important deficiency founded is the gap between the budget approximation and
the budget real expectation while resourcing the project (Kerzner, 2017). For this, the best
suggestion is to make a thorough analysis before initiating the project and estimate the
calculations properly with double checking the requirements and equipment needed to
address this gap.
5. EXPERIENCE – Ask your manager, when was the last time your workplace set up a new site.
Ask to view any documentation available containing a review of this setup, including any
lessons learnt that may be relevant to your project planning for the interstate site. Describe
what you learn in up to 100 words.
=> On a personal level, I understood the need to be legally complied with all the regulations
and legislations. For instance, few drivers were hired on the basis of their experience but their
licenses were expired or need a renewal. I took this matter in my hands and filtered the
applications on all the specifications required in order to optimize the resources and be cost
effective as well. This made me realize that the company’s reputation is at the hands of the
employees or the people working under them and thus, I oversaw all the other legal
documents like tax forms and safety compliance forms. This further I incorporated and
arranged small sessions to impart awareness among the entire staff.
6. LICENCES – What licences will be required to operate in a safe and compliant way at the new
site?
=> The following license permits are required to operate in a safe and compliant way at the
new site:
Registration as a state business under the Secretary of State Office/website
Driver License for Certified licensed holder drivers (heavy vehicle license) under the
Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (Taniguchi, Thompson and Yamada,
2016)
Accident Tow truck certificate
Firearm license
7. TECHNOLOGY – What electronic devices can be used in the new operation for safe and
efficient performance?
=> It requires wide range of devices to make the entire processing easier and hence it can be
used in new operation for safe and efficient performance:
Forward looking cameras- This is helpful for the usability in low light or during night
journeys, capturing of high definition images, reduce the chances of accidents or any
collisions and more.
Dynamic routing- It is going to assist in gaining information about traffic and climatic
conditions as well to alter the general routes and also provides real time-based GPS
information
